In '95 Toyota removed the third seat's center seatbelt for EPA reasons. We often wish our 97 could hold 8 like our 93 can so I decided to do something about it. I purchased the center seatbelt from a member a couple years ago and got around to installing it today. What a piece of cake. All you do is remove the grey plastic covers that swivel down and attach at the floor so you can see the underlying steel. A single bolt holds each end of the belt. Take one out and go to the nearest auto part or fastener store and get one that's 1/4 inch longer.

Reinstall with the seatbelt being added and tighten the bolt. Reinstall the plastic cover and one side of the 3rd row is complete. Repeat for the other half and you've got an 8 passenger 80. It took me 10 minutes to install not counting getting the two longer bolts in town.

Piece of cake mod that makes the truck that much more capable.

Can you use the center seat belt out a second row 95-97 or do you have to get the 3rd row center belt out of a 93-94?

I'm not sure if Oak was available in 93-94 so I'd like to find a second row 95-97 center belt if it works.
 
I did this a couple years ago, and according the CDan the part # for the later model second row center belt is the same for the 93/94 third row.

Mine was also oak, cost about $50 IIRC.

Not quite correct.

A second row belt can be fitted in the third row. The belts are not the same.

The second-row-used-in-the-third-row deal resulted from wanting to match the oak color in the 95-97 since that was a new color.

It's a moot point now however because the oak second row center belts are discontinued and have been replaced by grey.
 
Did the same for a couple of mine with an old GM seatbelt I had sitting around. A must for carpooling the kids and neighbors' kids each morning. Very easy and I didn't have to get a different bolt.

Do you happen to remember the size of the new fastener. Then, I could buy the fasteners and put them in the garage with the seatbelt I bought six months ago. Maybe someday I may actually get it installed...

How do these lap belts differ between different models?

Just wondering if it's generic (enough) maybe another one from a different model, similar in color, might just do the trick.

I've recenty sourced the A-pillar grab handle for a Mudder which had been discontinued, but had been superceeded by a gray handle, from another Toyota vehicle.

Although his interior was oak/tan, I found out that the above-mentioned vehicle had "ivory" colored interior as well as gray.

I was somewhat skeptical, but sure enough it fit like a glove w/o looking too out of place (Ivory interior colored 80 even was available on a limited production in Japan for a short time).

ANYWAY, just a thought...

Your timing in asking was perfect, as the receipt is laying on my desk to be filed. The bolt is a:

7/16-20 X 1-1/4" N.F. Grade 8 Cap Screw from Fasteners Inc. P/N is 0802.043.0125.10 and it cost me 89 cents for two of them plus two lock washers.

I'm not arguing your results Doug, but would it not be a metric bolt?
 
Yes, the OEM bolt was a 14mm head. The ones I bought were a 7/16 head. Same thread, but the new SAE bolt was beefier with a thicker and wider head so I was pleased since it anchors 2 seatbelts. Shoulda clarifed.

Maybe you should clarify further, since 'metric' bolts have metric threads. I'm wondering if there isn't some U.S. law that specifies seatbelt bolt thread pitch be SAE 7/16-20, or is it possible that 7/16-20 has a metric equivalent? Did the bolts go in easy?

All the Toyota seat belt bolts I've seen are 11mm.

I happened to have just remove the top anchor for my 3rd row seatbelt, and can confirm it is a 14 mm head.

I don't know offhand if the others match.
 
Doing a little conversion:

7/16x20x1 1/4 = 11.11x1.27x31.75

which should work out to something like:

M11x1.25x30

Looks like a close enough match if a metric isn't available.

Found this on the web so maybe 11mm fasteners are hard to find.

Preferred diameters. Preferred nominal diameters for bolts and threaded rod are as listed below. The fourth series listed below should be limited to unusual requirements when none of the preceding series can be used. Reference individual standards prior to specification. Sizes M5 to M45 are commonly used in construction.
First choice: M2 2.5 3 4 5 6 8 10 12 16 20 24 30 36 42
Second choice: M3.5 14 18 22 27 33 39 45
Third choice: M15 17 25 40
Avoid:
M7 9 11 26 28 32 35 38​

Toyota's choice of 11mm bolts is deliberate. It deters the use of improper fasteners for mounting a safety item or a critical part. Same for their choice of 9mm bolts for some calipers and 11mm head bolts.
