Hey folks,

How to attach passenger side airbag cover/door retaining straps.

The passenger side airbag cover/door is attached to the actual airbag housing using nylon straps. The airbag cover/door is connected with a set of three black nylon straps attached to steel a bar. There are another two individual straps with steel eyelets. I know where the three straps/steel bar attach. I do not remember where the two individual straps attach, one left side strap and one right side strap. The straps keep the dash airbag cover from launching into your face when the airbag deploys.

I have checked every Toyota FSM I can find. Each FSM shows the airbag assy, and the airbag dash cover. There is no clear reference as to where the nylon straps attach. As I said before, The one set of three straps is connected to a flat steel bar. I know where this bar attaches. It is the other two left/right straps that have me puzzled.

I can provide pictures if needed. However, I am sure anyone who has removed the passenger side airbag and airbag dash cover will know what I am asking.

Thx

No.
Specific to the 80 Series rigs with airbags. The passenger airbag cover has integrated safety straps to keep the cover from launching into your face when the airbag deploys.

I took my entire dash apart for another reason. this included the passenger side airbag and airbag dash cover. I am pretty sure I re-connected the straps correctly. I was just hoping for a second confirmation.

I'm curious, what is the purpose or what are you trying to accomplish?

As my original post stated. I was installing the passenger airbag and needed help on how the safety straps attach. I have since figured out the correct mounting sequence.
Thx.
