What did you use when you replaced Vacuum hoses?

After poking around my 60 today, i've decided i need to replace all of the vac lines. The majority of them have at least the ends cracked and probably leaky.

What did you use? is there any kind of tubing that i can buy a whole roll of and cut to length?

Thanks!

oem for the 3.5mm diameter stuff. you can buy it in 600mm lengths for about 1.50 a section. there are a couple of old threads about this. the part number is 90999-92003. try c-dan for the best price. for the 5.5 mm I have used silicone hose mcmaster carr. I think the larger diameter stuff is no longer available from toyota, but I could be wrong.

Use C-Dan, I did and like that it's OEM.

Excuse my ignorance, but What's "C-Dan" I searched for that as a user name and it came up zero... Searched in threads only on found "call C-Dan"...

I went with 40ft of Silicone McMaster Carr hose and like it better than the factory rubber hose. Do a search and plenty of information will come up on which hose with the part #.

Ahh..... Thanks guys....

also, from personal experience, replacing all of your vacuum hose is a good, or bad, way of discovering that a lot of the (more expensive) emissions equipment is toast.

x2

I have to say, I was really impressed with how well my 20 year old OEM stuff held up. I replaced mine as PM, but every line had plenty of life left in it.

gotta love the silicone.

just more common sense...

replace one line at a time. Pull one end off old, put one end on from new, pull other old end off, put other new on....etc. ask me why i know this...:frown:

better yet, use the emissions fsm as your guide, that way you do not have to rely on the previous owner(s) ability to have plumbed all of the emission systems correctly.

I used this stuff too and I like it.

i ordered the mcmaster-carr stuff, should be here by the end of the week. i have to switch carbs while to send a tired one off to JimC , so i figured it'd be a good time to replace the vac hoses. one at a time for sure!

Thanks again!

Who noticed a difference in performance with new hoses?
I wouldn't state I got a performance gain, but replacing all of the old hoses resulted in my cruiser running like crap, which in turn encouraged me to take a closer look at the emissions system (something I have been avoiding) and revealed that my egr valve and modulator were shot. I am still checking out the remaining components, but at least through the process of replacing hoses I am beginning to have at least a basic rudimentary (enough qualifiers?) understanding of the emissions layout: at least what goes where, I am still working on what does what
