I routed the exhaust from my original 1F out the passenger side because I hated smelling exhaust at slow speeds. It crosses diagonally where the Confer tank used to sit.The exhaust pipe coming out the rear right side. That started 1/75. Couldn't see why someone would reroute the exhaust to the opposite it leaves the engine. Why Toyota added a huge muffler behind the rear axle in 75 may have been for small increase in engine size. In this case the fill for the auxiliary gas tank would prevent the exhaust being routed across the back. Could be a B engine added since those exhaust on the right side but odds are it's a V8.
