That 2017 200 will likely be worth more than a 2024 250 in 5 years. That "Lifetime" warranty is not a Toyota warranty and is not worth much. Post up the fine print! Look at the depreciation curve on a 2017. When does this ever happen in the first 10 years. Except for Covid, almost never.

The "lifetime" powertrain warranty is offered by the selling dealer and it's completely free.

It's of course worthless on the used market because it's non transferable, but to the original owner buying the vehicle new who is going to keep the vehicle long term, maintain it by the book, and use a shop to do so, it definitely has value.

It's not free. It's a consideration when comparing dealerships and their offers. I wasn't talking about value on the used market. I was talking about value to original owner. These are 3rd party warranties. Do some research on 3rd party vehicles warranties and come back.

I'm not a 200 owner throwing mud at the new guy. I compare ALL cruisers. If Toyota calls something a Land Cruiser, I'm going to compare it. I hesitated buying a 200 for a long time because of its bulkiness. But under that body is very robust vehicle. I stopped buying SUV/Trucks for looks a long time ago. With that said, I'll probably buy a GX550 (or LX) in the future but I'm going to modify the crap out of it.

More misinformation!
Nah not misinformation. 250 is better than the 200 in almost every single way its just a hard pill to swallow for Luxury 7 seater owners that like to brag about how ''superior'' their soccer mobile is when it's really not even close to the more advance 250. It's alright grandpa 200 your time to shine is over. It's over and! and you failed your series line so bad they discontinued your line because of you 200! Leaving only the lexus varient of your lc series/ species alive because well... it gets to the point of the luxury thing for people who buy it for what it truely is a luxury station wagon! You dropped the ball 200 nobody wanted to buy you because not only do you look like a bloated whale but because you cost a fortune with an engine less reliable than a 4Runner. 200 is the past and the 250 is the the future better in almost every single way. the 200 has been mortally wounded by the 250.

I dont know in what world someone would buy the above when you could have a NEW LC250 1958 with a lifetime powertrain warranty.

I truely think all the hate on the 250 is from 200 owners throwing mud on the new guy (dispite the new guy looking WAY better)
Good Lord. Who let this absolute bot join Mud? 😂

There's nothing to research. These are simple 1-2 pagers with full warranty terms and conditions outlined and listed on most Toyota dealers websites. Maybe ask your lawyer if you are having trouble understanding the fine print?

Subjectively, you can take you style opinions and go buy as many glorified Grocery Getters as you want! Please leave the 250s to us offroaders and overlanders!

You are correct. Perhapse i shouldent compare the soccer mom car with the 2025 Light Duty Land Cruiser

.....

The 200 is to 150 as the 300 is to 250. The hate is from 200 owners that want more Toyota Suburbans, not 60/80/100 series owners who value style and offroad capability. This is not to say Suburbans arnt EXCELLENT. Theyre just not for going off road.

I remember reading somewhere that toyota designed the 250 to get UN contracts in developing countries? The 300 series is their Flagship model. High tech, nice to drive, but ultimately designed for road travel. The 70 series is their Heavy Duty farm vehicle. Solid axels and killer off road, but it wont get three doctors from Islamabad to Kabul in any kind of comfort. The 250 blends the two.

That being said, it is very fair to compare different vehicles.
Somebody show this kid back to the Wrangler forum and lock his post into the archives to be observed in perpetuity.

You got me so good with that overlander comment. That may need to be my new signature.

Here are some shots of the grocery getter and some soccer moms . [Hulk Hogan voice] 😹

I was expecting these silly GI Joe Pictures, you realize we've already covered this? many vechiles were used for wars. The 200 was just a drop in the ocean of the vechiles used. I can pull up many photos of 150 LCs and 70 series used for combat too I can even upload photos of chevys and nissans used for combat. This does nothing and adds nothing. The Hilux was and is the GOAT for most used vechile for combat. I must regress, 250 is the future 200 is in the past. 250 is superior to the 200 in almost every way denying that is easily crushable.

Sigh, this AI troll again.

Every mile you drive in a 200 will be much more enjoyable than a mile driven in a 250. The 200 is the real deal. The 250 leaves much to be desired and it’s a sad ordeal that it’s the only option we get here in the States.

There’s a reason why there’s so many sub 1,000 mile used LC 250’s for sale.

Could you realistically buy a new 2017 LC for $60k??

No, you can't. It would be used. A $60k used '17 200 will likely be worth more than a $60k new '24 250 in 5 years or 2030. I do say that with some hesitation because of these tariffs imposed could very well keep the 250's values abnormally high too.

I agree, but I think Toyota has pledged to absorb the tariffs and not pass them onto the dealerships/customers, which is remarkable. There must be some jaw-dropping margins in these vehicles for them to make that commitment. Of course, they could change their mind.

lmfao he called me an AI troll, Bruh I didn't use ai for any of that. I'll gladly take that compliment though. The 200 failed. Theres no next to no reason to buy a 200 series land cruiser instead of a 250 unless you don't have the funds for a 250 you can buy an older 200 even though their all from a 2008 design. It's ugly, old and discontinued for a good reason. The poor 200 series owners will fight tooth and nail to justify owning that bloating luxury wagon soccer mobile thing. give it up, admit defeat. embrace your old cruiser and take care of it until it rust and disintegrates. Let those 200 series flaking steering wheels serve a reminder of it's demise And a testament that fear runs deep within it's owners. So much fear that the steering wheels are plauged with ''The Peel''.

I did read that and I think it's good marketing and good for customer retention. If I had to guess, I'd say they will keep their word for the time being while selling existing inventory or vehicles in the pipeline and then increasing the volume/percentage of North American built vehicles and decreasing Japanese built vehicles. The Japanese built vehicles might be "available" but in low quantities. Even with higher mark-up, Lexus made no such pledge, likely because most Lexus are made in Japan.

By your measure, the RAV4 is a way better vehicle than the 250 because they sold 475,000 last year vs a measly 30,000 LC250's. It's cheaper too! Win-win!

250 drives circles around a RAV4, the 200 drives even slower lumbering circles around a Rav4. By my measure I take everything the 200 can do and put it up against the 250. The 250 comes out on top on most catagorys including off road. Including mordern safety, Including a lot of other things. bottom line the 250 Land Cruisers better than the 200 Land Cruisers.

More misinformation. Your next measure of a great SUV is speed???

The 2024 RAV4 hybrid is quicker than the 250. And the 200 is quicker than both of them.

Off road dummy. Off Road. It's actually funny that you looked up the speed haha! No I meant off road, the 250 is superior to the 200 off road. the 250 drives circles around the Rav4 Off road, and so does the 200 just slower and more lumbering. That was a good laugh. lol he looked up the speed haha lol, whew.. oh man lol that's good.

@hoser I don't know who you're replying to, but this is definitely some interesting information. It says the source is Motor Trend. Where exactly did you pull this info from?

I must struck another nerve for you to start name calling. I didn't look up the numbers for you. It was copy/paste from another thread. I actually don't think you take your 250 off-road. I never said the 200 was more capable. I did say it was more durable. A 1985 4Runner (w/ the same traction devices) is more capable than an LC250 on the rocks.

I think it was MT, maybe C&D or one of other auto mags (are they still publishing printed magazines btw?) I recall seeing it and maybe even sharing it myself sometime last year. Color me shocked because having driven everything on that list (plus a new 4R and Tacoma) I would have said the old 5G is the slowest with the 200 being next up. The new turbo stuff feels zippy off the line.
