Thanks. Didn't know it changed a bit post-2018.

I still love the A750F....bulletproof if you keep up on fluid changes :). The 760F would be nice when running lower diff gears on the highway.

Aren't they the generally same, with the 6 speed having a 2nd overdrive added?
The a750 and a760 are exactly the same transmission housing and gear train. The A750 has all 6 gears. The difference is that the 5 speed doesn't have enough solenoid valves to shift into 6th gear.

AC60 is very similar to the a750/760. It's basically a update.

It's the clearest indication I know of that Toyota intentionally makes certain vehicles worse. There's no other explanation I can think of.

Edit: and the lack of 6th gear is a huge hit to driveability. I went to 4.56 diffs and it was night and day more enjoyable to drive everywhere but the highway. Highway suffered. I ended up going back to 3.73 because of that. I do quite a bit of highway time. 4.56 with the 6th gear would be excellent.

I even reached out to samyang to see about making 4.10 ratio gearing for the 8.2. They were able to do it, but I ended up deciding not to order a batch. I just didn't have time to be a reseller. (Minimum order is 200 sets.) I'm okay selling a few hundred sets. I didn't want to be the only source because I didn't want to have to keep them around for 15 years for the guy who blows one up and then can't get a replacement. That stinks. It really needs to be someone who can keep them available long term IMO.

Oh and take out the Turbo as well. I want a naturally aspirated engine behind my Land Cruiser. I'm 29 but I'm not into all this tech stuff. I'd need to see the 250 owners experience for a few years before I think about choosing this over a tailgate Land Cruiser.

Turbos are both more reliable and less expensive now than they have ever been. Plus depending on how you drive you may not even get into the turbo all that much, it'd not like it's the 80s.

I'd love a Non-Hybrid option for the 1958. Slow 4 cylinder will be fine. 8 speed. With no sunroof and cloth seats. Hell give me a 6 speed manual! Roll up windows. Ya know, more like 1958 in the most modern way. I'd buy one tommorow.
Besides the roll up windows. This sounds like what the next gen 4Runner may be. Including the manual transmission.

The one thing I would love that I know I won't see again on a car are wing windows. I haven't had a car with them in 21 years.

Who knows, maybe we would do little rubber donkey's (because the donkey is the strongest animal for REALLY hard work back in my country) and we will be "donkey-ing" a fellow LC250 owner on the road the same way Jeep families "duck-each" other on the road ! 🌞😊🫂.

Another reason not to get one. Please don’t put kids toys on my truck, I have enough rolling around my floor boards as it is.

Are you confirming somewhere that the 6th gen T4R will have a MT ? Last one was 2000. I had one and regretted selling it.
This would be how my garage would end up with a GX460, a LC250 and a 6th gen 4Runner

The 6Th Gen 4Runner will have 4 doors. It won’t have a removable top. It won’t have a SFA. It won’t have a manual transmission. That is my prediction.

I think the majority of 4runners will also have the 2.4 I4 turbo option without the hybrid like global market LC250 (with the hybrid maybe only saved for the higher spec 4R), another way to also keep prices down.
Now what would be insane is if they also offered a version with a 6 speed manual just for the hell of it like how they did with the Tacoma.
They probably won't but stranger things have happened.

Which is what I'd love. 2 doors optional. Can't see why not with the TNGA platform. Maybe FJ Cruiser style doors.

My gut feeling says, we might see a 2 door LC250 at some point during the production run of the LC250 and most likely within the next few years (in the first half of its life cycle).

Just a gut feeling. From a market perspective, they could make a case by saying it could be needed in some European markets. It would also sell in the Middle East and if they offered it in the US I imagine it could also form itself an interesting niche market.
Isn't the beauty of TNGA anyway how easy they could stretch/shorten things and with the costs shared across the range it could help save some wiggle room for some projects that otherwise would never be considered.

The next smaller Land Cruiser FJ I think is going to be too small to be a true FJ cruiser successor (which the 250 is closer to being I think).

I though I am a manual transmission hard core. But after getting the taste of newer 8, 9 and 10 speed auto, I would not buy off road oriented SUV with manual transmission anymore.

6 speed manual just would not have:
1. Wide gear spread
2. Low speed torque multiplication of torque converter equipped automatic transmission.
3. Faster shifting
4. Better fuel economy
5. Same level of Integration with advance traction control

Now for a sports car or drift car, that is totally different story. It might not be faster but definitely way more fun to heel and toe when shifting down and trying to keep the ref high.

I believe the only two markets where the Prado 250 will get the new 2.4l turbo are N America and GCC. The rest of the world is getting the 2.8l Turbo Diesel and in Japan and E Europe a 2.7l NA petrol engine. In Europe we are promised a hybrid version of the 2.8l TD next year. The vast majority of Toyota truck sales in the "global" market are diesel engines, very few petrol engines in fact.

In GCC you get the 1GR petrol as well and a 3.3l Diesel, is that right?

Cheers

New Rivian has them. 👍👍
Those are pretty small though, like half the size of the ones on my 83 Pickup and attached to a vehicle I would not cross-shop. Nothing against Electric, just not a great fit for me.

For whatever reason the manual in the Tacoma comes with a ~ 20% decrease in HP and 30% decrease in TQ

With a turbo it should be pretty easy to get that back, assuming the turbo has headroom.

That was what made the Veloster Turbo fun to wrench on, you could make an additional 100 wheel hp with the factory turbo. If there is a similar situation with the Tacoma, then might be able to do some turbo trickery.

Also HKS plugs in turbos are amazing. I would never spend that much for a plug for a naturally aspirated engjne, turbo engines need something a little better.

TL: DR I have been salivating for a modern turbo Toyota truck for almost a decade.
