It has been hatched around in a few threads. I would like to get a consensus from folks who have first hand experience with the stuff. I want to line my doors with dynamat (or some other product that is equally as effective) but i have been having a hard time deciding at what layer in the door panel to put it. At first i thought about putting across the top of the vapor barrier. Then i decided against that because i think it will cause the door panel to bulge out, fitment of the panel and you would destroy it if you needed to get into the panel for anything; finally it would not have a firm foundation to be applied to. So now I have come to the conclusion after watching an episode of rides on TLC and seeing the man Foose in action. Every car i have seen them do had dynamat in it and it was applied to the actual door itself, on the inside of the outer door panel. If applied correctly it shouldn't come loose from the door, won't come in contact with any moving parts in the door, still allow access to the door workings while providing sound deadening properties at the same time.

What say you?

Hey CJ:

IIRC, didn't you strip down the entire inside of your rig and do something like this already? I think it was your rig?

Maybe not though. I assume this is to sound proof the rig better?

Best.

Inside of outermost panel... everywhere.

I would do rear quarters as well for sure, as well as the tailgate.

I have dynamat on the outside door panels, the inside door panels, and under the vapor barriers. If applied properly dynamat will not just peel off. It is pretty much permanent if you take your time and prep the surface and heat the mat before applying. Dynamat will make a big difference in sound quality if you are into stereo equipment. Hope this helps

On the outermost panel as already stated is the only way to go with dynamat. Been building competition stereo systems since I was 17 and that is the only way to do it and gain the true benefit of the product.

Didn't know that, cool deal.

Beno, yea that was me, but i just lined the floor, under the center console but didn't venture to the doors because i knew that i would be messing with the speakers some day and i would just do the doors/speakers/new vapor barrier at one time.
