Anybody know what it’s like to remove Dynamat after it’s been installed?

Could be ugly- I would try dry ice & see if it will chip off similar to factory deadener.

What about killmat anyone have experience?
I used Killmat in my truck for vibration damping on large, flat areas. It worked well. Added extra foam in cavities & voids, and ResoNIX Guardian for speaker backwaves and more sound absorption in the doors. Will do this to the Cruiser at some point, if not just to help bring down the cabin noise.

I don’t have to do it now, just wondering what I’m in for if I fall into a pile of cash and get to do a more comprehensive job on the body

I can't think of a reason why you would need to remove it and why it coming off clean would make a difference. I also don't understand why anyone would go through the effort of removing the factory deadener. That's a lot of effort to remove deadener that toyota put in a very specific place to maximize it's impact. Just apply more on top of it.

I used Kilmat, worked great. I liked the smaller pieces than the dynamat. More taping, but less cutting to fit in the body panels.

per usual you are over thinking this. Buy as much dynamat or kilmat as you can afford, start applying to large body panels starting with the middle. You get diminishing returns adding mass as the panel gets stiffer (get to the edges). You can do multiple layers, you can add more later.

Next step is to apply a foam like Noico, 100% coverage (this doesn't work by adding mass, this works by insulation).

If you win the lottery, go back in and add mass loaded vinyl.

Thank you. Jaymar, the consistent "I'm dreaming about making my truck a big money project" threads are something to behold. Just start an actual project thread, do the work, and document the progress. Dumping your thoughts when daydreaming is just a circle jerk of what ifs....
