Maybe I got your curiosity up with the title.

Okay so I have this idea (maybe cheesey) to find some vintage Japanese ZERO or other fighter plan parts and incorporate them into a FJ60 (still do not have one). An altimeter might be neat too.

Little more background is in order for this to make since. It all started with Stacey David on trucks putting a vintage mopar pistol grip shifter into a Dodge truck. I got to thinking I like that idea and I took it a step further. I found a NOS F4U Corsair flight stick handle (Corsairs are going for 1 to 2 mil so this is all I can afford) and plan to install it as the shifter handle in a Chevy K20 I am working on. Now this build is not going to be outlandish with airplane insignia and such on it just the flight stick grip and I might paint it navy blue. So you are probably figuring I am an aviation buff too, hence the same idea for the FJ60. Hey I might even paint it green (probably going to leave the red dot off).

I think there are a few guys on here from that side of the world?

Thoughts?

aren't most airplane electronics 24 volt?

It seems like I recall there being so few operational Zeros left on earth (like single digit); those items are pretty few and far between.

Vintage aircraft parts, though - thousands of T-6s and -28s and parts to support them out there; I had a military aircraft (Marchetti) that I got turbocharged for high altitude and speed and used those parts to put on-board military oxygen, regulator, masks, the whole bit

and I've still got an F-16 and an F-4 control stick I'm not quite sure what to do with

The concept of honoring the Japanese heritage is a cool one, though, let us know what you come up with

yeah, but the am6 was designed by mitsubishi.

that would be like putting chevy parts on a ford.

I see your point but my jeep wrangler has ford, chevy, and mopar parts on it.:)

I was mainly thinking of trying to find a flight stick or grip to make it into a shifter. I googled pictures of one and they are not nearly as sexy as the american fighter control grips.

Thanks for the responses. If I get to do some of the projects I hope you will see a build up thread ... some day.

true...but you can do that w/ Japanese stuff...mostly b/c they rock all that much:D. if you did that switch w/ a chevy (:crybaby:) and a ford (:)) it would make an already crappy vehical even crappier...
