Automatic isn't a restoration... just an FYI. It is going to be hard to find a pig with that type of setup unless you do it yourself.

Why do you think money is not an issue? Money is always an issue.. I am willing to make some compromises... I think the going rate for what I'm looking for is around $12,000-$14,000... How much do you think it would cost to build one from the ground up?

Probably more than that, but the truck that you are looking for likely doesn't exist unless someone has already put twice that much into it and is willing to sell it for a loss.

Factory AC is OK at best and it runs ~2-3k to install a Vintage Air kit.

A frame off restored late model FJ55 w/ AC is a 25k truck easy.

My bad,it just seems like you are looking for a rare 55.I dont know what a ground up costs but for 12-14K I could build a pretty sweet rig.not show worthy, but thats not what im looking to do,although I do have dealer a/c in my 55.best of luck with finding what your looking for.

I think that what you are looking for is a clean daily driver not a restored pig. A restored pig is going to be about 4 times what you have in your budget. The problem is the parts are hard to come by and if anyone has them they are going to do a premium restoration. I think if you look at TLC 4x4's restored 55's you are looking at $50-60K.

Even a truck like mine, which is not restored, and not a daily driver was considerably more then 12-14K.

Hope that doesn't sound negative. Just trying to be realistic, and make sure you know that if you find a 55 advertised as frame off restoration for 12-14K I would be very leery of it.

100% with Scott; just check out the offers for ground up restorations from TLC.............daily driver with AC, PS might be more"findable" than "rustfree"; most every pig has rust; as for auto tranny...........custom job mated to a SBC or other SB V-8 :hhmm: IMHO you will just have to build it to get everything you want; might be a hell of a lot cheaper to go with a later model just my 0.02..........HTH

cruiser....

My point exactly Mars, that is a clean daily driver not a frame off restore. Pretty obvious looking at the wheels, interior, etc. I think that the OP will be best served by something similar if his price range is 12-14K. Hell I think I saw a complete set of new old stock OEM W/S for a pig go for 3K alone.

They are out there...this one just showed up yesterday. The truck is in the bay area. I called the owner and he is not a cruiserhead, but has put a ton of money into this thing.

He was pretty vague about the buildup, but assured me 'everything is brand new!!'....:hhmm:

Very true John... Pigs are cool but they have no after market... Buying high and selling low seems like the only option... Must give it some thought.. Maybe I just need to be patient and something will pop up..
