I have spoken to Cy, Paul and Daisy about assisting me as I lift the 80. Cy has offered his garage space and Daisy is the technical advisor since I need all the help I can get. If anyone is interested in assisting or just coming by to point and laugh; it is planned to be jan 31 at Cy's place. The lift is a MAF version of OME 3" with ext brake lines. There will be some refreshments and pizza for lunch. thanks all and I am really looking forward to the superbowl run!:steer:

Let me think about it. I'm not sure I can bring myself down to wrench on an 80. :hhmm:   :meh:

If the lift includes shocks then soak the lower rear shock mounts in PB Blaster or Toyopeen for a few days prior to hitting them with a wrench. Has the truck lived in the rust belt for any length of time?

I have a socket that makes quick work of the upper front DS shock if you need it. Sometimes that one causes problems.

Can you borrow a brake bleeding tool? Something like the Motive power bleeder makes it an easy job.

x2 for motive and brake line jobs... i have one, but it only has the subaru MC cap, not the universal Mike shows... let me know if you think you could use it.

I can offer my place too if Paul's 40 is still in the garage (let's hope not) and space is tight.

I have spoken to..., and Daisy about assisting me...

Sounds like fun!
Technical advisor huh? Good thing its an easy job!
No worries AJ, it is easy as pie...

Where where you when I put my springs in. It took most of the day to learn and get it done myself! Wait I didn't ask, nevermind. Some folks thought I was nuts doing that myself. I guess new springs would warrant more concern and I had no issues with everything being clean as it was on the truck.

I will help!

I am in if you still need more hands. Maybe I can tag-along with you Jarred? Finally get a chance to ride in your 70? Let me know.

Ok Ron I'll call you when it gets closer. Don't forget brake line wrenches, mine were a pain to replace!

I will get the pb blaster on there soon and any other tricks or tools to make it easier are welcome!

More blaster. Blaster every day prior, from all angles. Find new ones.

might be able to cut it back some since it's not my 60, but Robbie had to cut one leafpack at the eye, and another was broken. Even w/2 hits of PB a week out it took him 8hr+ and some loaner tools to get the old stuff outta the way.

my 2c worth.

ps: have loaner tools available.

someone more mechanical (or w/more search-fu) can list em.

While I won't be able to make this wrenching session, Sean and I will be doing his front axle job on Thursday/Friday, January 28/29 at my house. Feel free to stop over and gander while we wrench.

Best.

Confirmation

Paul and I are looking forward to helping with this project. The address to our home is 6917 Rosewood NE. My home is located on the North side of the "Albuquerque Academy". The closest major intersection is Wyoming and Harper (If you are coming off 1-25, take the San Antonio exit - San Antonio turns into Harper when you cross wyoming). If you are at that intersection you need to proceed East on Harper. Go to the second street "Rosewood". You can only turn Left (it is a Tee intersection with the Albuquerque Academy on the South side. The street is only one block long and we are in the middle of the block on the west side. I will have the front two bays of the garage free. Look for Paul's FJ40 parked out front. I have a large compressor, so bring air tools if you have them. I also have a pretty good supply of air tools and accessories. If anyone get lost and need directions our home phone number is 821-8520.

At this end we are still good to go.

Still a go.
Old School- what time is appropriate to descend upon your domicile?
Daisy- PB blaster started hoping for good results, although treatments were halted for the past few days while i was out of town. soon to resume!

lets aim for 8:30, I will have coffee and something light to eat. I drink good coffee. Front two bays of shop are open and ready to go. Compressors is up and running. Have pneumatic tools. Only have one creeper. Have jack and jack stands (four). Have military sleeping pads to lay on (not as good as creepres). Bad news heater in shop is off line. Checked weather, we should be plently warm. Have cooler will supply ice for drinks. Address is 6917 Rosewood. Home phone number is 821-8520. Directions:
1) The closest major intersection is Wyoming and Harper
2) This is the NW corner of the Albuquerque Academy if you
know that school
3) Head East on Harper
4) Turn Left at the second street, this is Rosewood. You can
only turn left because the Albuquerque Academy will be on
your right side. It is a "T" intersection.
5) Rosewood is one block long. My house is in the middle of the
block on the west side. Number on front of house.
6) Chev Truck in front

Note: if you are coming from I-25 take the "San Antonio" Exit. San Antonio turns into Harper at Wyoming (it is the same street, don't have any idea why it changes name)
