Hi there.

As far as Ive been told, this is due to strait cut gears in the drivetrain. Has happened with other (all) 100 series cruisers I’ve owned when very cold. Usually in the twenties and below.

If anything, if you’ve not changed your fluids, you can do that, but the noise will be normal.

There are no straight cut gears in your drivetrain lol

Had seen this quote. "Oct 2, 2017 — The reason is that the low range gears are straight cut (spur) while the high range gears are angled (helical, I think)."

Guess perhaps just lo? After reading this years ago I never worried and never hd any issues. So Nukegoat, what is the whine when very cold? Ive always thought cold oil and tight gears.

yes that the symptoms , when I start driving cold makes w-o-o-o-o sound and then in 30 sec gone

When really cold, my LC also makes noise until gear oil warms up. .

never notice in the summer only during the winter days
I think it's our transfer cases buzzing away, you can kind of feel it in the h-n-l lever. Mine has been doing this for many years on the cold days. I take it easy on the really cold days until everything is all warmed up. Just make sure you front/rear diff and t-case fluid levels are all good to go.

all fluid are good my LC200 or LC80 no not have that problem only LC100

You’re hearing transfer case whine when cold- it’s normal in temps below 50degrees.

From your first post “looks like it’s coming from front diff” trying not to be a smart ass so I’ll hold my tongue with that one. Anyway little to no chance you could hear the front diff from inside the cabin unless it broke a ring gear.

Definitely normal. Freaked me out the first cold spell in mine too.
