Man i cant get over how sweet it is.. perfect idea. you could keep the stock look without a total rack, put that on when you are wheeling..its perfect. I will get one once I get my cruiser. that might be a while though..

Thats been a campfire dispute since Coleman starting producing coolers. Ice cold water will keep everything colder than periodic draining. Keep the meats elevated on a rack inside cooler to keep from getting soaked.

OR

Run a 16" hose when ready to drain.

Personally,..I'll keep the water. 2cents

Or buy a Norcold, Engel, or ARB fridge and forget the water issue! One if the best purchases I've made.

What are the inside dimensions of the rack, and could you add a few square steel plates to the bottom to support the feet of the fridge?

Absolutely, this can be very easily done. never thought of entertaining this for a fridge.

I have been looking into getting one of those, as we usually spend 4 days camping in the San Juans of Colorado, but for the $$ i can and have many times kept ice,in a Coleman day cooler for just about 5- 85 degree days.

Here are the inside dimensions. 30" wide x 16" deep x 6.5" tall. If this needs to be altered, a simple note is all that is needed.

How stable is it? Heavy cooler bouncing around while going up hill?

The basket will not move, rotate or bounce as long as the rachets are tightened properly. Thank you.

Nice Rack, I like the idea!

I use a Vacuum sealer for my meats, and food. Never, Never have a problem since everything is sealed.. I don't have to worry about keeping things on top either.. It can swish around in the cold water, and your food does not get wet.. Takes a couple minutes of prep, but you don't have the headache later..

Food for thought (Pun intended)

I like the way the Jerry cans, ammo cans, and spare mount all go together, but I would not go for that cooler mount. I like being able to see out the rear window.

I understand, i wont drive around with the cooler in place if its empty, nor will the rack be on the back if there is no cooler. Thats why i made it VERY easy to mount and dis-mount. Setting it up on the tire took a consistant 45 seconds, tight and road worthy. Unloading the rack off the tire can be done in under 10 seconds. Pop the rachets, remove rack !! Thanks, Anthony

For those requesting Aluminum , pricing will be available this afternoon. Thank, Anthony

The view would only be blocked if your tire carrier is center-mounted.

Have you thought about modifying your design to something like this? You could still use the straps for extra support, but you would have a sturdier rack or rather one that would potentially hold more weight.

This design is all right, but you could improve it by make adjustment holes so you could fit it over a larger tire. Your thoughts?

I like the OP's design much better, I don't see how what you describe would be stronger, even if it was out of the same size tube as the OP's.

Wow, Those are both VERY COOL:smoking: I will want one when I'm done with my current project.

My only concern with a set-up like the "jeep rack in above pic" is the amount of torque presented when weight is applied further away from vechicle.

Think of it as this,.... you're hanging off a 2" tree limb tight up against the tree, you can stand and bounce here for days, now climb 5 feet out on that same 2" tree limb, you will snap the limb on the first bounce.

With the trail adaptor,(still in works) you will be able to take rack and set on you front tire and use as a platform for trail side repair.Thank you, Anthony in Colorado
