Just bought a '97 cruiser, 67K, no roof rack, no running boards, factory diff locks. Oh, and no tow hitch- to me a good thing since this means the PO(s) didn't tow with it. But I would like the option. Anyone know what the tow "package" included, besides the hitch and harness? (I tried the search function but didn't come up with any descriptions).

Thanks in advance,
tony

That IS the factory "Package" :D
Im sure theres someone on the list with at least the hitch part taking up space

Congrads on the new truck .

Buy/build a rear bumper with an integrated reciever. Much better clearance than a standard hitch, not to mention it has a tire carrier with it. :D

The sticker on my wife's 80 lists "TOWING PKG W/TRANS OIL COOLER" in the standard features section. It didn't come with a hitch.

Don't we all have a tanny cooling loop?

All 80 series Cruisers ordered by TMS USA had the aux cooler added during vehicle assembly.

If your gonna offroad with it, get the bumper with a receiver hitch, the factory hitch hangs low and you land on it and bottom out on it, I've almost high centered myself on it before. got to www.sleeoffroad.com and check out their bumpers.

OK, Thanks for the info, the trans cooler was the main thing I was concerned about (ie towing w/out it if mine didn't have it).

Greetings Tony -

Welcome to the group! (not to mention the '97... ;) ).

Yep, follow the advice of the others and research rear bumpers for a bit before you purchace a hitch... but when you get there, you can get an after-market wire harness - the one I used is Draw-Tite #18357 (about $20) - that is plug-n-play. There is a spot under the truck - rear PS (passenger side) - where it will plug into the existing tail light harness.

Cheers, R -

Welcome to the 80 series cruiser.

Now you'll get ready to be known on a first name basis at every gas station around your area :slap:

Tony,
Congrats on the new rig! :D

Drop me a PM or email if you really want a tow hitch. I have one from my rig that I doubt I'll ever use again. I might also have a (new, in the box) wiring harness if you need one.
