Oh no!!!! 😭

Actually it’s not what you think 😂
The last step of the turbo process is to pour some into the oil inlet fitting to the turbo. This is to make sure the turbo isn’t run dry before the oil pump can do its thing to get oil into it.

Well it doesn’t take much oil at all. Maybe a tablespoon-ish. Then you run the fitting in and then the oil supply hose. Start the truck and drive with a grin. That’s what is supposed to happen. *someone* didn’t realize how quickly the oil port would overflow so the oil not only overflowed and ran down the downpipe AND into the turbo blanket 😳

So that smoke and wonderful smell is despite all the efforts to clean up the mess, no one bothered to check the turbo blanket. Comedy ensues.

Now I’m not going to put anyone but let’s just say there was plenty of embarrassment all around and let’s just use this as a learning lesson m’kay.

That's about what my "hiwow sport" (cheapo junk) turbo blanket looked like when I pulled over to investigate in front of a concerned bystander's house. I'm pretty sure he thought my truck was going to blow up and catch his lawn on fire.

when I saw it happening I should have made my brother take off the blanket and clean out the oil. I didn’t think that much spilled out. Oh well.

It will be thermally clean quite soon. :hillbilly:

The Meth Injection system got another step forward. All the hoses are in and it’s sealed tight. I have everything drawn up so replicating it won’t be a problem. I’ll have to figure out how much the hoses want to move once they are pressurized. Only reason they aren’t secured down yet.

Sorry, what's a "Rodney Flush"?

Sorry, what's a "Rodney Flush"?

Pulling the hose of the trans cooler, run the motor until a quart or so has been pumped, refill and redo until the fluid is running clear/clean. It does work well.

That is not a flush, it's a fluid exchange. Fluid exchanges that utilize the transmission's internal pump are fine. A flush is externally powerd and that is what I do not like.

oooooooooh!

Sorry just saw this. Disconnect lines, run motor to pump old out and new in simultaneously until clear. Named after the guy who runs Wholesale Automatics in AUS.

Well I know Rodney and I have one of his valve bodies in my A442F. I was not aware he had a flush named after him. I wonder if he knows?

Wasn’t news to him when I mentioned it. Named after him because that’s what he does and recommends...
