I just know I'm gonna come back to this thread and there'll be a bunch of pics of shiny stuff including a zinc plated dog, with the comment "I don't remember where this bit goes!"

Well crap. I missed some hardware for the EGR valve. I’ll order up some new studs and zinc some new nuts. Argh. I hate when I miss little things.

Anyhoo...brand spamming new OEM EGR valve, new OEM modulator, new OEM vacuum hoses, new OEM evap hoses and I added some OEM evap clamps to the larger vacuum hose because it likes to come loose with age.

It might be hard to know what this is but this is a collimator. It shines two bright beams of light across a surface to accurately measure its surface/angles. This is a critical piece of equipment when trying to KNOW what the angle of something is. In this case a fitting. Yes it should be 45° or 37°. But it’s not guaranteed. It could be 37.05° and that’s why a fitting is leaking. But in this case it’s just to be sure that an opposing gender fitting will match perfectly without leaking issues. The fitting’s profile is projected to the screen so it can be accurately measured.

Why does this matter? More on this in the morning. I gotta pack for CMCC. My flight is at 7am 😜

Safe travels..

The turbo and the kitchen sink thread. I love it all!

Ok, I think I’m going to do something that may be polarizing. It’s either a really stupid idea because Toyota knew what they were doing OR this is genius only in its idiocy 😂🤣

On the 1FZ Land Cruiser you have the transmission lines that run into the lower tank on the radiator. Those threads, on OEM radiators, are stainless steel. There are two fittings that convert those to a 3/8” nipple that go into two different directions. Those fittings are steel and the flared tube is actually copper. Now a simple 3/8” oil cooler hose and simple clamps is all you need. And it’s worked for 22 years just fine.

I on the other hand, am an idiot and thus MUST find a different way to make me happy. You see I want something cooler/betterer. So I’m converting the absolutely ridiculous and non-existent M14 x 1.0 fittings from the radiator to standard AN-6 flare fittings so that all of the transmission hoses will now be AN-6 fittings. More on that later.

Cool idea! Just keep all this stuff in stock and everything will be fine. :)

The exhaust manifolds are finally back from being Ceramic Coated. I went the same as I did with my supercharged truck because after 6 years they still look fantastic.
These things look like they were dipped in chrome they look so good. Couldn’t be happier. This will keep more of the heat in the exhaust instead of in the engine bay.

Was planning to install the downpipe yesterday but found a 1/2” error due to the damage from the accident. Intake pieces are ready to install. The meth injection elbow is ready to go.
