These are an ARP stocked piece, though not part of a kit. I'll dig up the number

Thank you Brian.

You probably checked, but did ARP offer anything that could be used for main studs or rod bolts?

I hear ya' dan, being devil's advocate. You're not knockin' the project are you? On the other hand, i know we can count on you to make sure things are done correctly.

ARP has torque specs for their studs. Since nearly the same "kit" is used as the 2JZ, that being 11mm studs, torque with ARP moly lube is 65ft/lbs.

I did begin to look into rod and main bolts but decided against it. The factory rods already use the superior design of bolt and nut, 10mm in size I believe, no reason to change it. The 7 main bearing design of the inline six is very hearty and very understressed... the bolts live an easy life down there, no reason to improve it for 280hp. I do have what I believe are the specs for converting the main bolts to studs, LMK if you want them.

No, not knocking it in the least. I was curious how the torque value is established when the original fasteners are the stretchy rubber jobs.

Great question CDan. I am also interested in how to calculate the torque value from the bolts to studs. Has any one else used studs on this engine?

starting to like this stud idea, all the potential issures I could come up with have been explained away, how much was the set of studs and nuts?

was there in intermediate torque? seams like there should be at least one if not more.

Please post lots of detailed pic of this part with the head going on.

Did this ever get finished?

100 To 120 Bucks and yes there is a intermediate torque. Certain tyorque with oil and another if you use there lube

I kind of left this engine build thread hanging... there are a few posts around about the head and the intake... I thought maybe it was time to bring some of that info over to this post.

The disassembled head ready for cleaning, inspection, and port work.

You gotta hurry up, the HP freak in me needs to know how this turns out.:D I am really interested in how the motor works when you are done. With the 6 speed, it should really be fun.

great photos but let me be the first to say...

slowest ... build ... ever :D

So, how's the 'build' going?

what a waste. Spend all that time and killer skillz just to not finish it and sell it off. Let's hope he comes to his senses.
