1982 FJ 60. My windshield wipers are making a growling sound . I read about this problem but cannot find the thread. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There’s a little black relay behind the driver’s side kick panel, 2 small gears that end up getting dusty and dry and start to make a low whining noise. Unplug it, carefully open it and you’ll find 2 small gears inside, just hit em with a drop or 2 of some 3 in 1 oil and you’ll be good for another 42 years! There is a thread here somewhere where I got this info and some pictures to help. So I can’t take credit for this fix. I’ll try to find the thread and get back to you. Hope this is the fix for you, it was for me and many others
