wind noise

Ok so I've had the cruiser 6 mos and the windshield isn't factory it's a PGW and I hear wind noise through the windshield, I've read here about replacing and was wondering how I might find a reliable co. to fix my problem.

Safelite did my windshield last week. Hearing a very noticeable wind noise from the passenger side. There is a seal on both sides that needs to snap in place over some rivets. The top of the passenger side wouldn’t snap in place anymore. Safelite came back out and ordered another seal. They said they just wear out and we’re surprised they hadn’t pooped out sooner being a 2000 model.

I changed my front door weather stripping because there was TSB calling for it and it increased my wind noise ugh.

I’m in the same boat - bought a 2000 LC about 4 months ago and it came with a new windshield. Unfortunately I don’t know who changed it so I’m trying to see if there is anything I can do from the interior or exterior to stop the wind noise. From there I’ll got to the sunroof at 70mph, windows seem to be ok.

It's the trim pieces along the side of the windshield. they use rivets and the windshield people normally forget to replace the rivets, or the they don't have the right size and drill out the trim pieces and install bolts or larger rivets. then they don't replace the seal pieces covering the rivets. You can diagnose it by stuffing some AC weatherseal type material over the rivet holes and seeing if the noise is reduced.

I typically pull the side molding "carefully", clean it up and reinstall properly.

I had the same problem - turns out my windshield was improperly installed (glued instead of riveted). New windshield and trim pieces (from PartSouq) and the wind noise is much better.

Haven't really taken a lot of pics yet. Bur here she is as I bought her off e-bay. Gotta dump the running boards as soon as the weather breaks.

Where is this located? You can just remove the rubber trim from the side of the windshield without tearing it?

Depending on how well the windshield people installed the trim, there could be one or a combination of ways they are attached. they could have used some urethane goo just to stick into place, they could have used screws instead of rivets, or they could just be completely loose.

2001LC, among other amazing in depth posts, shows himself cleaning and reattaching these very pieces here. I have this same problem in mine, but have not got around to addressing it yet. Most of the time the windshield people do install the windshield properly, so there's probably no leak into the actual cabin but I suppose loose trim would allow water to be trapped against the body and cause rust on the pillar.

Thanks for the link, interestingly the original owner replaced the windshield at under 10k miles at the dealer and potentially is leaking air. Id like to find out where the wind noise is coming from.
