ok these next shots are of the truck bed liner SEM stuff and the bedliner gun

Make sure the gun you got has a 1/2" orfice and pick up tube where the product comes out. I tried a gun with a 3/8" opening first years ago and it doesn't work. SEM will also recomend a 1/2" gun.

Just don't want you to catalize all that material and come to find out you can't get it on?

Matt

thanks Matt i sprayed yesterday before i lgot your post i went back and measured the gun and its 1/2" i guess i got lucky;)
i did get a couple of coats on underside of the tub and i also sprayed the bed of my M101 CDN 1/4 ton trailor. my pics aren't great (they never are:frown: ) but you can see how it looks for the most part.
it shoot pretty well out of the gun kind of like a constent buckshot effect i had good flow. there is no way to really adjust the gun unlike my hplv gun so I can see why it is important to have a gun that shots properly. i am pleased with the results and will do the underside of the fenders and the main floor pan when it gets here as well. not sure how much more it will harden but it has a rubbery rhino liner type feel unlike the durebek stuff I had on the tub of my old fj40 which was really hard.

got some time in on wilma this week end and tonight between tiling my back entrance and designing my kids tree house and working up a lumber order for that project.

anyway i decided to get as much undercoated as I could so i first dove into the wheel wells last week removed the shield thingy that protects the exposed area between the underside of the fender and the outer body edge. intersting setup wonder why they moved away from this setup for the fj40s would have made the fenders on them last longer. anyway the pics of my work on the rear fenders did not come out  but the first pick is of the fender coated in the bedliner of which i got 3 coats in on each side. i will say thank you to atleast 2 PO ago (the last owner just tore everything apart) in that there was alayer so thick of under coating on most of the wheel wells that it was all still fresh from the last time someone did body work , which i am geussing was in the early 80's sometime.

I also dragged the front fenders out of the basment which were blasted stripped and primed last fall and put a couple coats on the underside of them as well. now i just need to high build prime them and sand them smooth.

I have been contemplating using this stuff on the inside floor boards in that i was going to dynamat extreme them anyway anyone know how bedliner works as sound proofing. i have the dynamat extreme stuff in the whole interior of my fj62 and it made a huge different. i could actually hear the stereo on the way to the trail with 35" swappers.

the next project i started working on tonight was tearing everything off the engine. the engine is a n 87 2f from an fj60 which I plan on sending the carb and distributor to Jim C to get tuned . desmogged and run some ceramic headers. i have already picked up alot of the parts for this like the headers and an early f aircleaner. but i still need to get the carb and distributor off and to Jim C for rebuild. then get it all back together and running:eek:

the pics of what I am starting with

got alot of stuff of the other side only thing noticable in this pic is the air cleaner is gone. but i will keep updating the progress
IMG_0576.jpg

got some more time in on Wilma this week end. got some more stuff stripped out of the engine area for the most part its all straight forward but I had some questions. I am running an 87 2f so the only thing I really need to save wireing wise is the lights and instrument wireing. well some of it anyway. but the area circle in the first pic is part of the stock heater (I think) is this going to work with whatever heater I swap in? or am i better of starting from scratch and can anyone make a good recommendation as to what heater i should use.
- my 2f came with an ac pump is this worth rebuilding and using or am I better off, if I decide i want AC to go another route?
theoretically I would like to set up a system that uses the same vents for both heat and ac. i am really not wild about the extra expense that ac is going to add but where I live it is so moinst that ac is a must for defrost.
- and as far as desmogging goes the top circle gets pluggd into the aircleaner but what about the larger circled area. this hose outlet has 2 outlets and is ported off the top of the head next to an air rail fitting. both hoses were not conected so I have no clue if i can plug it up.
lastly i spun her around in the garage so the engine is closer to the door now so i can clean it and work on it a bit easier also i have some body work to do on the passenger side now which will be closer to the welder.

If I remeber, Wilma, had some aftermarket heater setup.

I believe what you have circled is the vacume actuator for the stock t-case. You don't need it since you're using the floor shifted 4 speed split case.

One of the hoses off the back of the head is a heater hose. Not sure about the other.

ok so i can get rid of the actuator, thats good there is not going to be much left on the firewall.
I will look on SOR and see if they lhave a diagram of the heater set up.
thanks

I have an old Vintage Air set up in my fj40. I pulled the compressor and will be replacing it with a fj60 compressor. I need a pressure sw. from an fj60 and some other hardware to make it functional. I Like this set up because the bracketry is already there(saves money$$$) and the pulley will match the other pulleys.

more a/c questions etc.

i was planning on using a vintage air setup as well. Matt used something like a Vintage Air, but as i recall, it was some other brand. from what i have read about these aftermarket setups is that the combine a/c with heat and defrost. the thing is that you will have to install vents as the LV's never had these. Billet Industries makes the ones i will be using. Also you can go to TLC4x4's web and see what they have done, which is basically what i just described. the net results, from what i can figure is we will get rid of all the old factory heaters, which do look cool, but don't work well, at least for a/c. we will have to itgrate the aftermarket fan assemly into the underside of the dash which will do all the handling of the air flow. i like the idea of fjwagon's using a fj60 a/c bracket for a factory look, but question do you have to use the fj60 compressor? it would be old or expensive to get new. modern rebuilt a/c compressor's are not too expensive, not sure about the toy fj's tho? however, i figure if you get a kit from Vintage Air all the parts will be there, but maybe we could buy just the necessary items, but that scares me a little. fjwagon, how about posting some pics of what you are doing? Jason, you should go back thru Matts thread and look at what he did. Every time i go back thru his job, i see something new. but mainly i get frustrated at the slow pace of my project, but i have soooo much on my plate right now, i have no choice. sorry for the rambling.

fjwagon thanks for the input on the vintage air I was looking thorugh thier site that looks like a decent set up.
i think what I am going to do is wait....
I think I will leave the AC compressor on and wory about getting the truck running and revist the AC/heat thing later. I have read and reread pages 43 of Matt's thread and plan on doing the in dashvent thing and keep the stock defrost vents. i have all the stock 872f ac engine sid eof the firewall components so so we'll see how that goes.
rambleing are what threads are for :)

on another note I sent off my carb and distributor to Jim C. yesterday to get rebuilt and recurved for no smog. be nice when I get that all back and can start getting the engine back together.

Ironically enough I was buying hardware for my fj40 and after paying for it the owner of vintage air caught up with me as I was going out the door couple of years ago. He basically wanted to know if I was going to install an A/ C unit in my rig. I said it already had a vintage air installed and was thinking of changing things after I painted it. Unknownst to me, he said he was the owner and would like for me to take it to his place so we could fingure how we could make it better.
I have seen the fj60/vintage setup in past and it does work. I have not seen the new version of vintage air for the fj40. I will take him up on his offer when the time comes. :).
I have no pics, I rebuilt the engine and used fj60 hardware so when the time comes I will be able to bolt on the fj60 compressor I have stowed away. I hope it still works.:). BTW, some auto parts stores give good warrenties on the a/c units.

I have also heard that vintage air will sell part of the kit if need be. I have not decided what A/C setup I will using when it come to restoring the lv. Once I locate an engine for it I will know more. I do like how mat's lv turned as far as the a/c is concern.:)

Keep up the good work.

what type of engine are you trying to locate? i have the F out of my 66 which i think i will be selling. i don't think it is worth crating it and saving for the future. not like we are talking about a Hemi or something.

Actually I can use those push rods from your 66 if you decide to part it out. :). I got my 65 to run but needs a carb and push rods. I want to be able move it around in the meantime. I want to install a diesel in mine. So the search of diesel that is readily available here in the states continues. Seems the options are 4 or 6cylinder diesels are good opions if you want a spring over. V8's are too big too for what I'm looking for.

what about installing a DuraMax out of a wrecked Chevy 2500+? that would be badass, but a lot of work. lots of computers and electro s*** to have to deal with. but man what a ride that would be. that would make for one fast LV that could pull stumps. are you thinking about a toyota diesel?

Ok BACK to Wilma!!!!.

got just about everything out of the dash and off the fire wall. ( cheap stereo, crappy heater with rotted hoses contected to the defrost fixed thingy's the rest of the 4 wheel drive shifter. just some random wires here and there and the light wiring harness. which I am going to keep in there right now so as to replace later, kind of use it as a template.

I am thinking i will seal up all the holes with new metal and start from scratch.I am thinking the lighter hole as well as the ash tray are goig to get sealed up as well. I figure if anyone dreams of smoking in my lv that will be the last thing they do. I think Mike gave me a patch to go over the stereo hole as well. hopefully today /tommorow will get it all cleaned up and primed.
