I've been on the search for primarily a 100 series, using mylexus a lot for sleuth work. Today I came across a 2013 for sale, so I decided to pop the Vin into mylexus and see what history it had. This event was back in 2021 and fixed by insurance.

I occasionally see brake booster issues or complete engine replacement with 100 series, but any other wild stories out there?

Not very wild, sadly, getting more and more common on the 200.

I’d see that and think wild! But my lx has only been to a dealer once in the almost 5 years of ownership, so seeing an almost $17k quote is nuts! I’d laugh at the service writer as I walked out the door.

Use this stuff on those connectors.. CorrosionX Aviation – Corrosion Technologies - https://www.corrosionx.com/collections/aviation-and-milspec/products/corrosionx-aviation?variant=31599866544224

I use it on ECU circuit boards that have been waterlogged and so far has always brought them back (I brush it with a toothbrush as well for remove even more corrosion...I have 10 or so done out there, It also prevents damage from happening when you submerge the ECU when its live (been there, done that..)

I should probably use it on them now anyway just to protect them..

It is safe for aviation electronics even control ECU's.. car electronics are fine..

Also it looks like that connector could be de-pinned and then each lead could be cleaned.. Be a pain in the butt since there are so many and the mapping diagram would be a lot of work to but definitely less than $17K.. that would be a 4-5 beers and a weekend project to do.

haha if anyone has a 200 that they are going to total for something like that, let me know, I'll buy it.

I don't think that's unreasonable they are ripping out an entire interior to replace multiple harnesses, that's very labor intensive and if everything is not taken apart correctly and put back together correctly there will be interior rattles galore.

I am going to tear into mine and treat them with this stuff. Seems like cheap insurance.

Thanks for pointing this out as an option.
