Looking for insight why brake lights flash when someone approaches when vehicle is off? Security system? Thanks

Security system?

Sounds like it. Definitely not stock behavior.

That said mine does turn on the interior lights if someone approaches with the key, no physical contact needed.

It may be the motion sensor in my hardwired dash cam. I’ve noticed the brake lights flash every once in awhile but never have any thought to it until the other day when I had vehicle in for service and advisor told me battery was failing.

Sounds like that dashcam may be draining the battery too often trying to keep things powered up.

Yeah it’s not supposed to. It has a battery voltage sensor that turns unit off if volts drop to a certain level but then again not sure if that’s working

The brake lamp switch attached to the brake peddle maybe going out.
Mine would randomly flicker prior to it going out, without someone approaching it.
