I've been thinking of this for some time, most of the folks that do this cut the stock rim and insert metal....and from what I understand with mixed results.....I thought a better method would be to insert the stock center into an existing rim of the width you desire.........I got around to trying this and it is gonna work

Back side, as you can see it is not yet welded, with the center here I have 3.75 BS which would not work on stock axles and clear wheel weights......however it will clear my Hi Steer arms fine...[

I don't know if all or most 15" wheels use the same dimensions but these are a tight fit, so tight, I need to grind so I can adjust it before welding........as it is now I have too much runout, I am setting it up on my wheel balancer with dial indicator when I have it close enough we will tack in 4 spots and remove it for final weld........

I carried this one to my Powdercoating guy this afternoon to make sure he can blast and coat the chrome rim OK, and it is golden he says......so now to get the other 3 done and coated with the correct grey paint

Oscar thinks they are way cool, he is ready to piss on them......:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: .....

Looks nice Butch. Have been thinking about doing the same thing with some of the older rivet wheels I have....

I meant to mention that these are the riveted wheels, torch the rivets off inside the rim and drive the rest out with an air chisel this left the center intact.....
Butch

You might want to check caliper clearance before you get too crazy. A friend had some rivet wheels widened by Stockton and they did not fit over the stock calipers. It's not the rivets that hit but the webs between where the rivets are that cause problems from what I've seen.

Unless your running a spacer too then ferget I said anything.. :D

Nice job otherwise. I've got a set of 15x8 white spokes in the shop that would look good with hubcap centers. Hmmm...

HTH,

One of the guys in LSLC has a set from Kali that are like these and they require 1/2" spacer to clear the calipers.....I have long 14mm studs up front so I can stack some spacers if need be.

Should not be an issue Butch....you are using a Land Cruiser center....

He is correct at least from what I saw on the truck I 'm talking about, the 4 sections that stick inward where the old rivets were, hit on the caliper.........I'll test the center tommorrow and check.
Butch

That would be easy enough to trim out of the way...

That is exactly how Stockton wheel widens wheels..

And honestly, I would rather pay you to do it than Stockton..

The set on Garths pig came from somewhere in Kali, and they are cut and metal added......and are nowhere near true.....

Pay me????
hell you can do this.
Bolt it to the front rotor and use it with a dial indicator to true it.....
Butch

Yoiu know how cheap I am, "pay you" was more for the "stockton wheel is a rat bastard organization" than anything ;)

I think that's how Bolton's does their widening too. They were the cheapest last time I checked. Butch, rig up a jig where you can do it easier and you'll have lots of customers. I've wanted to do it for a long time, but shipping to Cali and back tended to make it expensive.

Well I see how they do it, would not be hard to rig a jig up like this one...along with a porta power........:D :D

any guesses as to what he's doing with the portapower and the hydraulic jack? the jack is to adjust axial runout right? what about the portapower attachment in his hand?

.... any other pics of wide wheels?

I posted a link to mine in a wheel thread in this forum less than a week ago. Thread search my friend.;)
