Took a short vid of LED traffic advisor and switch plate tonight. Turned out great and the vid really doesn't capture the effective brightness. One would think the light bar gets in the way of the cargo area but I have put these in several vehicles and haven't had an issue yet.

That is a great idea, and really really cool. Certainly helps with getting peoples attention and potentially avoiding someone rear ending you.

I'm in and around a ton of active construction sites and work zones so we try to have as many blinking things as possible. I've seen parked trucks get run over by a dozer before lol.

Got a chance to try out the Rigid light bar last night and it seems to throw pretty good for it's size and position. Sure makes those halogens look dingy though. :cautious:

(Angle the pic was taken from makes the DRL's look out of balance but they are fine in real life other than just being ugly.)

The 30" bar on my 100 probably out works this 20" BUT that is 33% more LED's and a higher point the light is being emitted from with zero obstruction so it has a pretty good advantage. All in all the 20" looks to be a good performer. Checked in at a little over 8amps of pull.

^nice! Love all the toys as well.

Would you have a pic of the LED bar off from the same distance? It looked pretty inconspicuous from the previous pics, but just wondering what it would look like form a distance in daylight.

This is super cool! I was waiting at a red light on Tuesday when someone ran it and was t-boned hard by another car, and they both ended up in the intersection. I was thinking of trying to block them with my truck so they wouldn't get hit again, but I was worried I might end up in part of the wreckage. Something like this lit up would really help with visibility in those situations. Are there any legal implications to be concerned about (i.e., not being an official emergency vehicle)? Obviously you can't flick it on driving down the road or use it to impersonate an LEO or anything.

Yes much like the Lexus, I too am an "accumulator." I've decided to put in a lift on the right side of that building so I can go vertical with toys LOL. The Can-Am in the pic has been booted out of the building and is on the trailer so I can throw it on Craigslist. Picked up the new Polaris General 4 seater so I am actually going to let something go I guess. :crybaby:

I'll go outside and grab a pic shortly. Not seeing anything on my phone that will really show what you are looking for.

Definitely would vary from state to state but there's nothing preventing that here in SC. I've actually been riding down the road and come across accidents first several times and every time once the state trooper or local deputy arrived on scene they thanked me for stopping and using my lights until they got there.

Only problem is...Land Cruisers break down so rarely, you don't get to use it much. ;)

OK went out and took a couple more pics.
The main thing that shows are reflections off of the lexan/whatever lens material as it is still glossy. If it had a matte film on it then it would really blend in even more. As it stands now though it is still pretty low key.

This is about as evident as it gets. Point blank, kneeling down in front of the grill range:
(as you can tell again it's the reflections off the lens that are the main tell tale)

That's incredibly subtle, which makes it great match for the LX! Thanks for grabbing those pics.

Yeah - really like the light bar. Great idea! Would you mind taking a pic looking down from above the light? Or some other angle that shows how you mounted it? Many thanks!

I'll try to grab one tomorrow. Dark and hard to get in there but the old iPotato should get it.

The pic turned out better than I thought but it doesn't really show what I wanted to show. Can't get to where it is really anchored. The screw goes THROUGH the foam so the foam is more like a sandwich that the screw goes through. Seems pretty stable so far. I have a long gravel drive so if anything is not sturdy it shows up pretty quickly.

Second row USB outlets. The plan was to mount the outlet below the rear AC controls but there is a steel box right there so we scrapped that. This ended up probably being a better solution. It's tucked under the middle seat area so the lug/fragile cable connectors won't get kicked quite as easily as the AC control spot. Seat still flips forward without hitting them.

And USB for the cargo area. Decided to put the display for the CTEK back there also. I thought I'd try something different than I had in other vehicles. In the past I've always had the gauges for BMS up front. The thing I've found is that I actually need the gauge more when I'm setup and usually the cargo area is the place I'm accessing more frequently than the front area. If I'm up front 90% of the time the engine is running and of course if that's the case a voltmeter is useless. This way I have an excuse to grab a beer right? "Hey honey I'm going to check on the batteries..."

Gotta start preparing for the burning arms that always come along with mounting an awning!

I've been pretty quiet lately with this car. EFI fuse bonking out on me along with other little gremlins honestly had me rethinking this LX altogether. Going to give it a little more time to see what it brings in terms of reliability/electrical stability. Between the EFI fuse, CDL occasionaly blinking and 4LO/VSC/EVAP code periodically it has kind of pushed me away and back to my trusty 100 or the 2016 which are gremlin free.

This is a bit unlike any other Land Cruiser experience I've ever had and I'm hoping I can chalk it up to working the kinks out on a used vehicle but it's hard to say you've ironed the kinks out when no one has an answer for the random electronic faults that are reported.

Anyhow, worst case my mods can get yanked and roll over to the '16 for the most part so we're just going to take it one day at a time!

Moving on to more positive news, yesterday these showed up:

They've been MIA for quite some time and honestly if they didn't come in yesterday I'd have been pretty close to hosed b/c I was running out of time to order tires and get them mounted before we head out west. So they came in yesterday, ordered tires which will get mounted tomorrow and I'll post pics of the combo. Going with 285/70R17E Ridge Grapplers. I was down to them or the STT Pros but with me having more aggressive tires on everything else I own (Toyo M/T's, Swampers & Trail Graps) I felt it would be nice to have something milder on the LX.

The wheels are gorgeous and I can't wait to see them mounted up.

So today I was supposed to do wheels and tires on the LX. I fought for 2 hours this morning with it not starting again. Tried the EFI fuse (and just about every other fuse out of desperation), EFI relay etc. and got nowhere. Threw in the towel and having it towed to a shop. So by virtue of that the '16LC gets the tires and wheels instead and also gets the nod for our upcoming trip. Right now I'm thinking this is the end of the line with me and this LX. This has been the only Land Cruiser I've ever had that has been remotely quirky and I'm about at my limit. Haven't had it long enough to get attached to it but I sure liked how it was all coming together.

That's really awful! I wonder if it was a flood car or something? So odd that it's had this many issues. Hopefully you can get out of this one for minimal loss and look for another?
