With AA/colorado off-road express not making the 203 adapters anymore and marlin always saying maybe in the future does anyone make a doubler kit for the land cruiser now? I guess in reality it doesn't have to go to the cruiser t-case but that would be nice. I knew I should have gone V8 instead of sticking with the 6.

Thanks,
B

AA actually makes the adapter and output gear for the 203-split case. Might call them.
Somewhere, there is a set of 4:1 gears for the split case, too.
That would actually be a pretty nice deal because them you'd only have the one t case to deal with. They are EXPENSIVE, though. OrangeFj45 had a set, I recall. Rayjon reminded me of this.
Many have done a toy box to Orion for the cruiser offset, as well. RustyTLC has that set up and really likes it.

ORD (off road design) is starting to make a black box doubler for Landcruisers, not sure if it's out yet, but it's on their website.

Sorry, North west fab NWF, I have one for a 205 you'd think I'd keep that straight d'oh!

Hi all,

Interesting idea! Since the ToyBox has gone away this maybe a good option.

Alan

I'll take a look at NWF.

Gumby, That setup would require me to change my transmission to either a SM420 or SM465. I called Colorado Off-raod express last fall and he said he's retired and doesn't have any more adapters. I'll call AA and see if they have the trans to 203 adapter still.

Keith, I like the idea more of 4 speeds than just two. At least based off of the wheeling I've done around here.

Thanks,
B

I just received a NWF black box cruiser edition. I'm missing one mounting plate to get it mated to the H55 but I do have the other bits. More pics and details to follow this summer. I'll be documenting the install for all others to see. My plan is to run the black box behind an h55f and in front of a split case. All this is behind a turbo'd 1HZ going into an HJ47 sometime this summer I hope :)

Very cool, good luck.

Do you have anymore info on the blackbox? The page for the LC edition of the blackbox on NWF's website is blank. And I emailed them about it a few months ago and never got a response.

what kind of info?
goes between h55 and split case
cable shifted
2.7:1 low 1:1 high
requires cutting output shaft

thats all i really have so far... looks to be about 7" long...

Idk I guess I wasn't looking for anything specific. I was just wondering since they haven't put anything up. Thanks for the info. I'm assuming it will also work behind an h-42? And I'm assuming since you just got one they're taking orders now? And last question, are they the same price as the standard blackbox? Thanks.

I've been keeping an eye on all the low range gearing options for the splitcase for sometime so the blackbox is good news. I like the AA 4:1 gearset for the splitcase except for the fact that the high range gears have a 10% underdrive, especially since my rig is already screaming down the highway only going 60 at 3000 rpms.

I'll keep the forum posted on progress. I hope to complete and install in may some time. I also like the advanced gears but want a little more flexibility. I could always ad those to the split case
Later for even more gearing and flexibility

The NWF black box looks ALOT like the Klune V

Cool, I'll be paying attention to this.

Yeah. You might have to go GM trans. Forgot about that. There are some advantages to a 465.

I wish I had four speeds. With the 203/cruiser doubler I have 2 different 2:1 options and 4:1. At some point I'd like to put an Orion behind the 203. It can be had with 4:1, so I would have 1:1, 2:1, 4:1 and 8:1.

Agreed, I am psyched to have 2:1, 2.7:1, and 4.7:1 with my new setup.

Yep, pretty much the same...cept NWF is one of the first on the block to build the adapters from H55 and I think H41... They were looking at the 80 series:worms:but it is not doable without moving fuel tank etc to make it work..

I have a 3 speed bell housing, sm420, 2.28 marlin toybox, and 78 4 speed transfer case (last year with 3 speed bolt pattern and strongest case) with the lower 2.31 3 speed low range gears swapped in and nose cone and case savers installed that I'm pulling from my rig. With 4.56 gears in the axles it is 172:1 crawl ratio.
