As the title states who from CSC is going to CM06 when are you leaving to drive up and what are you running when there?

I am driving up with my parents on Tuesday, staying in Montichello and then running Lockhart Bason on Wed. morning with the Norcal wagons group on the way to moab.

Once in moab here are our runs

Thur. Hells Revenge
Fri Cliff Hanger...maybe changed to Behind the rocks
Sat Golden Spike

hope to see you all there!!!

Same plan for Claudia in the '40 and myself in the K5, except we haven't made plans or contacts to run Lockhart Basin with another group. Since y'all with coil-sprung vehicles are usually significantly faster on dirt road-type sections of trail - and from what I understand, most of the 37 miles of Lockhart Basin trail is just that - we thought that it wouldn't be practical, and probably inconvenient, because it's either asking the guys up front to slow down, or driving faster than I like. So we had intended to just putter along at our own pace in order to make it to tech inspection in time.

In Moab, we'll run Golden Spike and Steel Bender, plans for Moab Rim on Saturday didn't materialize, so we're undecided yet. I'm mulling over running either Flat Iron Mesa or Wipe Out Hill, essentially as a pre-run for our Blazer Bash in October (we've always run Gold Bar Rim for the milder trucks, and need some alternatives). Then again, we might just do Hell's or Fins/Porcupine Rim to relax. Kane Creek had been suggested, but I sorta don't feel like spending two hours in the car wash afterwards. If you haven't experienced it, then get the red Moab mud off your undercarriage while you can, otherwise, can you say "ceramic-coated"? :D

heading up maybe tonight gonna make our way through the magnificant Monument Valley - Valley of the gods, then Up through the Comb Ridge trail - seeking out ancient ruins - meet up Sunday with the Norcal guys ( yes they do move fast...)

Kane creek
Behind the rocks
PS Mesa

staying at the Spanish trails campground - CM06 central

after CM heading up along the Co river to onion creek trail and up to Fruita CO for more camping adventures

Michael- agreed on that Moab mud - was heading down to mineral bottom a few years ago solid 4-6" of mud on the road never fully made it to the river- too slick - spend the next hour and 20 bucks just to get 80% of it off - eventually sold the truck :)

See you all up there!

2m = 146.460

CB = the day of month

Sweet...sounds like we have a few going. If you want to hook up on the way up let me know. As far as i'm concerned I have no problem going slow and enjoying the suroundings while going through Lockhart, so the more the marrier. Sounds like it would be a good idea to keep CB the day of the month. I was planning on going up the 17 to flag and then the 89 to 160 over the the 163 and up through Monument Valley. On my maps that seems to be the shortest milage wise. Anyone have comments on this route??
If anyone wants to contact me my number is 602 743-four7fourfour

we are going up the same way, thought it was 17, though? ;p

we are thinking we might have to leave Monticello real early on Wednesday (like 6am) to make it to the tech inspection in daylight. The Book says it's 6 hours on Lockhart Basin Trail, followed by 3 hours on part of Chicken Corners.

hmm.....When I talked to a group that did it last year they said they did lockhart on the way got to tech early afternoon and then ran hell's revenge. I guess we will see. We will get a pretty early start due to our 4mo old liking to get up pretty early.

regarding Lockhart Basin: change of plans on our side: I discovered that I had made the reservation at Moab Valley Inn for Tuesday night, so we are going all the way to Moab tomorrow, and then may take Wednesday to run the trail from the north. See you all in Moab, Claudia
