no good ones (to everyones chagrin)

I'll have some good pics when I pull the turbo tomorrow..

anyone happen to know the ratio of the cruisers rocker arms off hand??

Don't forget that there's been some radical changes in motor oil lately. The Phosphorus and Zinc are being removed at an alarming rate so the high contact loads on flat lifters will cause problems. Do a web search on oil and cams, sounds like using non-API oils like Brad Penn or some diesel rated oils are the best bet to a healty valve train.

Just some thoughts,

Jeff

already switched to Rotella T in the 40..

lol, got the turbo out.

is it normal to need a plasma cutter to remove bolts??? :D

I 'm guessing you already checked out andrewfarmer's engine build thread, didn't he have all the specs for the mods done to his engine and presumably the cam too?

regarding the adapter for the turbo, it sounds like there is interest in purchasing such an item, (I would be interested if I didn't have other gremlins to attack at the moment), every time that you mention the turbo it seems that people are perking up their ears and asking where they can get an adapter to do the same on their rigs. sounds like it wouldn't be a real high dollar thing to manufacture either... even if you got a half dozen made and get them to file the specs away in case of future demand

it would not be a high dollar piece. And it would not be tough to reproduce either. A bit of laser cutting and some welding..

Really not that complex.

But, I most likely do not have the time or inclination to do it. I'm gonna call around and see if I can find someone to do it for me tho.. Create the basics for a DIY kit.. I thought the adapter was a cast unit. But it is actually just welded. Simple stuff..

As for the lifter bores.. I don't care that much ;)

Hey Mace! whats up with the cam transplant?...:confused:....

Ron Iskandarian is designing a cam profile fer me..

got it,

Reground stock cam profile (bummer too, the cam could have more lift with a completly new cam)

Intake = Z50E4 lift = 425 Duration = 254 Duration @ 50K = 210
Exhaust = E4SS Lift = 408 Duration = 248 Duration @ 50K = 204

Should still give crisp throttle response with the turbo and spank at higher RPM's..

Sweet,
Isky turned me onto a company in Anderson, Ca that will resurface stock lifters for $2.50 a piece :D

$30 total.. Bueno..

Mace; got our Cam back from Isky a few weeks ago; going through a total rebuild on our 2f.......Ron Isky is very knowledgable on cams and has the profiles on his fingertips; he has a world of wisdom and is very nice to talk to; he did not have cams for the 2F so we had to send him ours for a reprofiling + hardening; have used him or his dad for several projects going back to the late 60s; I feel that you will be very pleased with your cam...........have not run our 2F with it yet though;

Lou

oops ; sorry Mace; see you already have your cam back from Isky; congrats;

Lou

Mace, Have you pulled the cam yet? In any case, I suggest dropping the oil pan. That way you can carefully guide the cam out. Those bearings are soft. high risk op there feller been. Crazy thought here but, get that bell housing out of the way, knock a plug out of the way and maybe? have room for new bearing install with engine in bay. Another one, use your slide hammer, using the gear puller attachment, mount the slide hammer bar to the cam pulley so it acts as a handle / counterbalance. You can use the same technique to install. Or my technique, javelin throw from 10 feet.

Lou, I just sent my cam to him (spare stock I had sitting around) So I do not have it back yet.

Ron was awesome. Very nice to deal with and more interested in the proper cam profile than selling things..

I have been using him (and Ed) since the mid 80's :)

RSB. Javelin throw is more my style. Plus, I have NEVER been nice to this motor.. It was used before I got it. I had it for about 7 years before I installed it (sat outside), commonly hits 5K. And I can't remember the last oil change.

If I am nice to it, it might expect that ;)

yep, Ron is awsome also with a world of knowledge in Lubrication; ask him about what lube he recommends for cam break in?, I didn't heed his advice a few years ago and screwed up a nice cam <grrrr> His Dad...........Ed reprofiled a cam for me in the past....an incredible guy and Ron just is as nice as his father............great resource person;

Lou

And I can't remember the last oil change.

I see you do your part to conserve oil :cool:...... plans on changing it with the new cam :confused:.... if not, it'll make the break-in procedure of the new cam go a lil faster :idea:......
