Please please take pictures!!! Especially if you see anythign familiar from my pics!

this is really shaping up!

all I can say is wow...

Jim, Where is your land on highway 11? I didn't recognise the stop sign you mentioned. I go to school at North Greenville University, right off Highway 11 in Tigerville, about 3 miles east of where 11 intersects 25... I'd love to come to your place whenever you have people up there.

My place is further west by about 15-20 miles. If you can find where highway 11 and highway 178 intersect, aka Holly Springs, my place is about 2 miles west of there on the south side of 11. The 11/178 intersection at Holly Springs is a 4-way stop with flashing lights.

You are most welcome to come by. I have been trying to get up there since before thanksgiving, but have no free time lately. Keep watching here and I expect to make it up in the next 4-6 weeks and will post it here.

I am up every May for a couple of days on my way to GSMTR. Also come up for about 2 weeks around 4th of July.

sweet I will find out next weekend......... we may have to have some with a valid hunting liscense with us; because the info. I found said you had to present a hunting liscense at which time you would be give a key to unluck the gate...... I will stop at a ranger station and find out what I can, but you have the hunting liscense covered don't you Andy :D

Yep, never leave home without it!! :grinpimp:

Just let me know JP, I'd be game to explore those roads anytime!

Got most of one side of the rear aoart tonight. Rear spring pack fell apart! only 3 leaves stayed on. Need to go pick up more metal cutting blades for the grinder.

Rust also sucks by the way. I got plenty. But not as bad as I have seen on other rigs.

I have almost decided that I am going to have to get some 35's. So if anyone is interested in some 33's I have 4 + 2 BFG MT's. Will just have to locate some 35's. Pics will be posted this weekend sometime. Its definately going to be different!!

Well me and my roomate are heading up tomorrow after class to do some mnt. biking on the Auger hole road........ I'll take some pics and find out it we can get access with our cruisers :D

Sounds like fun. If hunting license is required could you ask the cost?
This is very promising.

Cool, good luck JP!

Something to consider: Given the level of stupidity and lack of thinking that goes on by many people in the world and given you're riding through managed game lands during hunting season, you might want to swing by Walmart or the like and spend a buck or two on a blaze orange hat or toboggan.

I've been shot at more than once on game lands, during the season when I wasn't hunting and didn't have on blaze orange. Some idiots (believe it or not) will shoot towards sound and commotion.

good lord, now you have me worried........:crybaby: all I need is some redneck confusing me for a deer :grinpimp: luckly I have some orange vest we use for our road clean ups I will make sure to bring them. Isn't deer season over with ???

Not trying to cause alarm for no reason but it's just a good rule of thumb when traveling on active gamelands during the hunting season. Hunters have to wear it by law for a reason and even though you're not hunting, you might as well follow suit. One of those lessons I learned long ago...

Some of these yahoos will shoot without identifying the intended target. Certainly not the norm, but you never know and not worth leaving it to chance. Blaze orange advertises your presence and cuts down on accidents by hunters with poor judgment.

Big game is over; most small game is in until the end of Feb. You probably won't even see anyone hunting given it's a weekday but again not worth the risk IMO.

Just food for thought, FWIW.

Dont forget to take some pics for all of us :) Just a reminder. hope some of this matches up!!

okay guys got some good news and bad news.............. the road is still accesible with a valid hunting lisence and has a kick arse water crossing on the Toxaway river....... but the trail has had crush and run layed down, so it is like the Muster Grounds. But from what I understand once the road leaves the state park it is still in it umaintained state, so there is hope yet. Unfortunately I didn't get to the end of the road to day I only got in 4 of the 6 miles, got a late start on the day........... so any way here are some pics of the river crossing it was very nice, no bridge over it but it did have huge concrete slabs layed across the bottom, which kept it from being more than about 2ft deep, if those slabs weren't there it would easly be 3ft deep across. So this is def. worth exploring futher just need to get a hunting lisence, because there is no way I am biking back down there it was a 1300ft drop in elevation to the river; the road back out is straight up there are no down hills and no flat spots......... needless to say I am whoop :D

Looks awesome, JP!! Thanks for making the effort to check it out!!

The question is: When are we taking the cruisers out there??

Can we all ride piggy back on my license? That would be ideal!

Can't wait to check that out!! :D

Do you need a hunting license to "scout"? :D

Any bigger pics? They look similar to the water crossing my dad made. What does everone else think? Maybe where the wood bridge went accross?

looks good though! Definately hope yall checked about the hunting lis issues.

the way that I understand it works; is you have to go to Saphire,NC where the state park headquaters is and show them a valid NC hunting license........ at which point they will give a key to the gate blocking the entrance to Auger hole road. So if one of us (Andy :D) gets the key we should be able to get a few people in; because this road is on the otherside of the park from the headquaters and I believe they only have two rangers for the whole park (gorges is significantly under funded) . So it doesn't seem all of us would have to present a hunting license.

So Andy when you coming down :D ?????

and Matt I will work on resizing the pics this evening................ also from what I have been told this road used to connect all the way down to the Muster grounds/ whitewater; so more than likely this was the trail from your pics.......

Let's pick a weekend and do it!! Probably need to do it before the end of Feb though since hunting season is over for a while - at least until April when spring turkey comes back in. That lasts a month and then it's a wait until Labor Day when dove season comes back in.

Let me know. I could pull off any weekend (after Barley's meeting / Super Bowl) in Feb potentially.

That would be awesome!!

Based upon what you saw (knowing you didn't get the whole way) what are the truck requirements for the road / water crossings, etc. In other words, could a stocker pull it off (no lift, radials, open diffs, etc.)?
