I'm considering painting the roof of my green cruiser white. There is a little surface rust where the roofrack mounted and the paint is rather haggered. Where did you guys "draw the line" when painting? Any pics?

Not painted, I used Plastidip. I wasn't sure I wanted to do it but really wanted to see what it looked like plus I figured it has to help with the heat at least a little. Cheaper than painting and temporary. It's held up great even in AZ heat, since April. No signs of wear or discolor. My sunroof doesn't work so went right over it.
It was tough deciding on the line. I just went with what I thought was the easiest route. I will say I didn't want it coming too far down so that basically decided it.

Hey thanks! It turned out better than I thought. I put it on probably 5-6 coats so it would be easier to peel up whenever that time comes. I think I used just shy of 6 full cans.

Nice idea. We were thinking of painting the roof white after our roof repairs. We will give Plastidip a try
I did mine much the same as summit but it's still green. I also used John Deere Blitz Black on the hood and cowl where it was peeling the clear coat as well.

flat black rattle can. probably going to bed liner or als coat it. the hoods clear is going as well, so whatever happens on the roof is going on the hood.

Not paint... PVC sheeting works great roof never gets hot the pvc is cool to the touch (ambient temp) . Its the floor for the rack. Comes in 4'x8' sheets

Had no idea they offered that as a factory option! Love it.
I did mine about 1/2" inset from the edge of the sunroof. Looks good, keeps it cool and when you are standing next to it you don't notice it that much.

getting the roof of my j100 painted white within the next week or two. will post pics. the clear coating is blistered and the roof needs to be painted anyway, thought white would be a good modification to go with. removed my rails/rack the other day.
I did this years ago. I got tired of burning my hand or arm on dark blue paint in the southern sun. The white still gets warm but nothing like before.
Needs to be repainted, but I like it.
