I'm having my roof painted white while having some rust on the roof repaired. It should be done in 2 weeks, I'll post up some pictures when it's done. My 80 is Moon Glow Pearl

I did mine because the Cruiser had been painted and the roof hard dirt in the clear from the repaint. It had other clear issues but those were just poor job with hazing. The dirt was to deep in the roof clear/paint to just sand the clear back. Rather than do a color match I went white, I did the accents to set it off and make it look better. All the clear was sanded back, it got the white roof and accents (painted) and fresh clear on the whole truck after that. I didn’t live in a hot climate at the time but I do think it helps a bit.
I also painted the grill white to match.

Is that paint, or vinyl? I have a black 100-series and would love to just wrap it, but I'm not sure the standard vinyl is thick enough.

As opposed to painting, I mounted on the Prinsu roof rack, a sheet of diamond plate aluminum that soaks up the heat from the sun in summer and keeps rain/snow moisture off the aging sunroof weather stripping.
It's made so the section over the sunroof can be removed if wanted.
Hood & cowl are painted with black bed liner to reduce glare. The emerald green paint has obviously suffered over 28 yrs, most of it with no garage protection.

Some early models of Land ROVERS had a factory installed sheet metal heat shield on the roof, idea was the same as 80t0ylc above (block/reflect sunlight/heat).

How much $ should one reasonably expect?
this is how I did mine. but I realized after the fact that I could've used my laser level to get a better line. it's surprisingly difficult to get a good line wrapping around the D pillar corners.

What did you do with the caputed nut holes?
I ordered some bolts from McMaster-Carr, painted them white, then threaded them in with a generous portion of white exterior home sealant
