You won't be disappointed. I'm gonna weld mine soon because I can hear them creaking as the frame moves.

DOM is probably overkill here but for the small price bump I just ordered mine that way.
I'm a mechanical engineer though and like overkill as long as overkill != overpriced.
IMHO the advantage is in tube uniformity, DOM is seamless so no weak link or hardness discontinuity which should improve the buckling resistance and hoop strength. The strength number differences are probably due more to the alloy than tube formation method but not certain on that.

Any Engineers on here that can figure this out:

The HREW WKO sliders are rated at 40,000 Psi. the DOm sliders are rated for 70,000 Psi.

My google assisted force calculations for a 5600lbs LC hitting something at 10mph result in a force of 2,541.1785 lbs. And I'm just assuming the force would be concentrated in 1 sq inch to make things simple.

That might be totally wrong, but the question is "Are DOM Strength Sliders over kill?"

Not overkill, 40,000 psi capacity is a high tensile strength. However, buildings over 40 stories and below need to be resistant to the compression and tension forces during a massive earthquake are constructed with grade C steel sections and I beams(70-100k psi tensile strenth). IMHO, falling off a ledge and concentrating the force in one area due to a sharp rock(imagine the metal punch that people use to dent a dimple into metal before drilling a hole) is a huge amount of pressure. Of course I do not have time to run the numbers but if a tiny metal punch controlled by a hammer and the strength of your hand can put a dimple in a piece of 1/4" thick metal or tubing, what do you think a 6000lb truck and rock can do to your precious sliders? There are two types of lbs, lb-mass and lb-force, so that needs to be taken into consideration during calculation time. Remember Pressure=force/area...units would be as follows: PSI=lbs/in^2...regardless of the numbers that are "crunched"..overbuilt is always better so go with DOM tubing

Okay sorry, back to my homework now and studying for the EIT, GRE and PE exam...almost time to graduate:popcorn: Also, I am not an engineer officially so do not use this post as a reference, it's only my personal opinion and observation

It's the .1785 part that kills you. I am an engineer but it's beer:30 and my brain has put the closed for business sign up. Maybe I'll run a finite element model on a slider tomorrow.

Klaus when are you going to hit the trail?

i have one of the first sets of WKO sliders for LX.....I have gouged and dented and scraped mine pretty damn good. Amazing how much force can be exerted by 6k lb vehicle trying to get by a hunk of granite with only a piece touching 1/2 wide......I have grooves in mine that you could set a soda straw in if they were on top.....tube never got compromised but they are showing some hits. I just sand, prime and paint over them when I get home and press on. Every time they get bashed or gouged it is money in my pocket I am not spending on rockers or doors :)

When these are destroyed will order new set....no worries...they are meant to take damage and prevent it from happening to your vehicle.

I dont think I would go to the heavier tubing next time either.....have all the faith in these actually.

I initially wanted ARB steps with rails but after waiting 10 weeks and now being told it will be another 6-8 I decided to look for other options. I had Slee steps before and they rusted bad and weren't really much of a step, these WKOR look a little wider which my kids and wife will thank me for. I doubt I will ever scratch mine since I'm more into camping and not so much wheeling anymore. I'm glad the engineers had a moment to debate the fact these are strong cus I feel much better now...doh

i dont think they are airbag certified though...hahahah (where is BBQBoy when you need a laugh?)

My sliders (non-DOM) are pretty beat after a year. I love them. I wouldn't have any other slider on my rig

Has anyone mounted the new WKOR sliders on a 100 series? If so - post pics!!
Particularly interested to see what the diamond plate looks like on our trucks.

I've purchased them and should be shipping out to me next week. Thanks again for showing me your truck. It motivated me to upgrade tires, get the slee lift kit, and now the new wkor sliders with step plate. Shoot me a message if you want to meet up to check out the sliders. Thanks again for the antenna motor.
