BTW...got a call from Discount Tire today. They have located 6x Cooper ST MAXX’s (255/85/16 Tall and skinny’s) and will have them ready for me by Wednesday next week.

I figure two spares will make rotation a cinch.

I also had some issues spraying semi-gloss black on my stock wheels today and ordered some special solvent to thin the POR15 Top Coat, so the weeks wait is ok.

Making a breadcrumbs trail:
Update: I received a response from the POR15 customer support and documented it in my build thread here on ih8mud.

Way cool news on availability. I am totally on the fence with purchasing these 255/85R16 tires from Cooper. Be really appreciative once you get them to show some photos. I have a LX470 and this size tire appears perfect for me. Good luck on your install and any tips on these tires once they are on.

Any pictures of the tires yet? I am considering the Coopers, or Mickey Thompson Extreme Country Tire LT255/85R16, or Dick Cepek EXTREME COUNTRY LT255/85R16

Who makes the lightest 305/65/18? I don't need 10 ply, i just want a good looking tire for the snow and light dirt trails that's relatively quiet on the highway.

I’m waiting on paint from Eastwood so I can finish painting the rims. I’ll post up pics once they are mounted.

Looking to replace the stock size Michelin tires on my cruiser. Give me some input which to go with. I've narrowed it down to these two tires in 275 70 18. I plan on keeping ahc til it dies then I'll do a 3" lift, so the 33" is fine with me. The pricing is similar, so it comes down to looks and performance, both being new tire designs, I wanted to ask the mud crew.

Chose these:

Now that you've been running the KM3s for a month or so can you give us your impressions on and off-road? I'm still very interested in this tire. Thanks!

Just did Falken Wildpeak AT3 265/75/16. They're cheap and damn decent. Didnt't take much balance weight and are fairly quiet for a AT. It's my wife's daily and she hasn't complained about noise. She's shorter and noticed it was slightly higher to get in compared to the worn stockers but otherwise, thumbs up. Will get a 5th for the spare and add it into the rotation

Does everyone know there is a specific Tire and Wheel Section of this Forum?

New BFG KM3. Thoughts?

@ga12r1 and @bozncsurf So far so good. They took a decent amount of weight to balance, but the tire guy said bfgs typically do. They are smooth on the road and perform well in the rain. I haven't been off road much with them but they have worked well so far. They aren't that loud, obviously louder than the Michelin's and my old falken at3w i had on my wife's tahoe. I haven't had mud tires on my vehicles before so I can't really compare them to other MT. Hope this helps.

@krice118 yeah I just wanted to post in the 100 section since Iv'e got a 100. I read that thread before posting. I also wanted help deciding between two tires.

Im running MT's and can tell you they are loud. I can feel the lugs on slow take off and when coming to a stop. You can definitely hear the wa wa wa sound on the road at any speed. If you go MT, they will not be as loud at first but once the rubber hardens a bit they will get louder.

Im looking for a way out of them and have my eye on the new General Grabber ATx. They have a similar tread to BFG and are the tire used by the overland guys on youtube. They are also very competitively priced.

well guys got the tires installed today.

Km3 275 70 18. The 34(295) isn't offered just yet so the 33" will have to do for this round. Ignore the lo mode and dirtyness of the lex. Also noticed after I got home the goof balls put the weights on the outside and also seems to be a lot of weight too so will be going back. Enjoy my pictures. Will report after I get some miles on them but so far so good and they do clear in lo mode haha glad to prove the tire techs wrong.

Came here looking for reviews because BFG isnt gonna have anymore KO2s for weeks. Considering the KM3s. Going to go with a 315/75/16. Wondering how you are liking the KM3s now that you’ve ran them for a bit?

I was listening to an 4XOverland and he was opining on his KM3's 285's were good but he was eager to get 255/85R16s KM3s which he said would be launched in June of 2019. Until then, I'll probably pickup a set of Cooper's 255/85R16 for my rig when I get the funds.

Both are right about 33, with the 255/85s being narrower and a smidge taller... I think it's splitting hairs for useful height while off road, however, the issue of width is relevant.

Go with the KO2!! You will not regret it. I learned my lesson from buying mud tires. I always ran the KO2 or GY Duratrac on my 4runner and decided I would purchase mud tires for it since they looked really aggressive. After 15k miles they are loud, noisy, annoying and hard to balance. Unless you off road/trail ride everyday you don’t need something that aggressive. When I purchased my LX it had a brand new set of KO2s on it and it feels having a nice smooth and quiet ride again. Get the KO2. You won’t regret it. If you want something a little more aggressive then go with the GY Duratrac or Nitto Ridge Grapplet but I would stay away from the mud terrain if it was me.
