Hi everyone! I have an Lx450 that is sitting on 35's. It didnt come with a spare, from what ive heard 35s wont fit in the spot where there usually is one. Wondering what else I could do for one. Can't go inside the cargo area because i have a sleep platform in the back. Also, i'm buying a 4x4labs rear bumper next year, just cant dish out that money right now. TIA!

Best place is on a swing out on the backside. One more thing to take up energy if rear ended and leaves space underneath to mount auxiliary fuel tank
this is not a permanent solution. Just temporary. Dont want to go off road without a spare.

where do i put it when i dont have a trailer? that was just a scenario. i was just stating cause i still need use of my trailer hitch.

Im fairly sure you can work through this as a 35 only goes in an limited number of spots.
Trailer hitch. NO
Inside. NO
Roof. Wait til you try and lift a flat muddy one back up there
Hood. Gonna need some support and it will be very difficult to see over
friends truck. Like a caddy in golf. Just call up your spare parts
AAA.

You ruled out first two so thats the rest. Not like there is another magical spot.

hmmm good point. I didnt think about the roof, but yeah that doesnt sound pleasant. one of those single tire carries on the hitch might be best option, then i could just put spare in trailer. just looking for ideas.

And that's why I stuck with 33's. ;)

Seriously though, AAA isn't a bad option.
Either that or OBA and a wicked good repair kit.

didn't have a choice, thats what it came with and i dont plan on downgrading because next year ill have a bumper with a swing tire carrier.

If it's a nice new tire, put it on your sleep platform when moving? Then, when you sleep at night, set it outside the truck.

It would fit under if you removed or relocated your hitch further back.

Not all 35"s are created equal.

Like @zapatius said, put it inside until you need your sleeping platform.

Roof is another option, but if you don't have HD sway bars, you're gonna have some lean with the weight up there, not to mention a slight decrease in aerodynamic (even though the 80 is a brick)

Unless you already have heavier springs, you'll need them when you install the 4x4 labs and have the spare mounted back there. Be ready to do exhaust before or immediately after the bumper if not done already...

I have med springs on right now, I do have heavys that my brother is giving me but waiting for the lift to be open. What exhaust work would need to be done for the bumper? I also have a Prinsu roof rack but thatll be a hassle

Once your labs high bumper is installed your exhaust will stick out of the back and be low. Right now stock the tailpipe is just below the rear bumper. Well with high clearance rear bumpers you will gain 9" or so inches of clearance. You can cut the exhaust when the bumper goes on but then you'll lose the resonator.

I like my 80 in stealth mode. long road trips + quiet exhaust + sound deadening (when you have time, its cheap just labor intensive) makes for a pleasant drive. Unless you like loud exhaust...

I did a single swing out with spare tire, (2) can fuel rack, ladder and drop down table on my 4x4 labs rear. I like having 1 swing out. I open the rear frequently and with 1 its easy. Also it makes the back of my 80 a L shape when open instead of a U if you had double swing outs. I prefer the open access on one side....Just food for thought since you're considering getting a rear bumper...

My opinion, the roof just isn’t an option. I’ve had 33s on lifted vehicles’ roofs in the past; that is just not a fun task. My 315s are a 75 lb tire not including the wheel. Tack on the additional weight (and mess) of your muddy flat and you’re looking at getting an awkward 100+ lbs way up in the air.
Have you looked at the interior mounts? Pretty cool design. Have your sleep platform on the opposite side and you’re ready to go. If it’s a platform, you have storage underneath.
