1967 FJ45. All stock. Has original brake master cylinder, the style with the metal reservoir. Fluid is leaking onto firewall and on the body of the master cylinder and dripping down onto the frame.

What is recommended fix? Rebuild or replace?

Sources for rebuild kits? Sources for replacement?

I think that I have a couple new replacement units. Not metal can style.

I switched to a dual system.

$20 bucks plus shipping and they are yours.

shoot me a pm. and I will shoot you pics.

got mine from Toyota a few years ago, was not much. Box is long gone so I dont have the part #, but I may have posted it years ago

you really should consider going dual circut, there are 2 or 3 vendors that make a plate adaptor to use a later master. non boosted but it gives a piece of mind when you stomp on the brakes when someone pulls out in front of you. It is a safety item that should be upgraded.

there was a thread on an LV coming off a freeway exit and discovering he had NO brakes.

landpimps pics are of a clutch master, the brake master is slightly different.

and that's why 2fpower has an extra! he didn't really have a choice in the matter. I do agree.. dual system is MUCH safer.. Algazy sells a plate adapter for a non-boosted system and he has an adapter to go boosted as well to clear the rib in the firewall.

You can also source a rebuild kit for the original from Spector Offroad if keeping the original look is important to you. Don't worry these single circuit systems are safe and reliable when properly maintained. I have been driving on them personally for years with no issues. Obviously yours has lasted 45 years without fail so I say slap a rebuild kit on and it will serve you flawlessly for years to come.

If you do decide to goal dual circuit keep in mind you will need the firewall adapter and have to fabricate a few new hard lines.

Good Luck:beer:

Finally back in town, I will email you pics. check your pm.
