I have looked in the usual spots on my 97 fzj80. Those spots being under both the driver’s and passenger’s seats, drivers kick panel and under the glove box. If anybody can tell me where else to look or how to follow a wire back to it. I would really appreciate it.

Are you sure you have one/ a PO didn’t already 86 it?

Yes I checked under the carpet. I don’t think the PO got rid of it because there is a fob that opened the doors, unless it is possible for the fob to just open the door. There is also the red security light that is to left of the steering wheel that is illuminated.

Mine was under the driver's seat. It locked me out twice with the key in the ignition. Thank goodness for spare keys. It has met it's fate in the local land fill.

It’s possible you have a different alarm than the port installed one. Maybe a PO swapped it out. My light was to the right of the steering wheel. Post a pic of your fob.

More then likely you've got an aftermarket alarm system. Pull the plastic lower steering column cover, then take flash light and look up on top of the steering column. Some aftermarket installers like to hide the alarm box up there. If it's mounted there you'll know it, it'll look out of place compared to other factory parts with it's wires spliced into the factory wiring harness with aftermarket terminals, plus it'll be held in place with plastic wire ties.

Mine is under my steering wheel torwards the drivers door on my 91

I am pretty sure now that the PO removed the original RS and put another alarm on the 80. Then removed the aftermarket alarm. So my question now is can you remotely unlock/lock the doors without an alarm? Because when I first got the 80 the fob would occasionally lock/unlock the doors, but no lights flashed or horn beep. So there must be a way.

Post a picture of your fob.

There is no remote locking capability without some type of alarm system, remote start or remote locking system. Like others have requested post a picture of the fob you have for help in determining what type and brand of system you may have.

They are usually under the drivers seat if not they get zip tied to the AC plenum, under the steering wheel you don't need to pull the clam shell just knee bolster

Mine was tucked up under the driver's side dash/foot well. They buggered up the wiring harness on top of it making my 7 pin mod much harder....

Does anyone know if it’s possible for my 95 to have an alarm as well, even if there isn’t one under the seat or the steering wheel? I think it has one because when the key is in the ignition, if I lock the door while the door is open, it will automatically unlock it so that I can’t lock myself out. I’m assuming this is an alarm feature but I have no idea where the alarm is. The red light also isn’t there so I’m assuming it is aftermarket if anything

No that's not an alarm, that's the way these trucks came from Toyota.
