well...i didn't seem to have an issue with 3400 lbs at elevation (between 4500-8500 feet) . I think my trailer is inherently unstable (its long single axle with small wheels and tricky balance) but aside from the stability, the cruiser did better than I had hoped. Kept speed with ease on the flats, was confidence inspiring for stability (aside from the steering that needs a little work) and had enough power to climb for the most part...im not lying and im certainly not on level terrain.

I don't wanna be responsible for a thread jacking. Too many good camping pics here to wreck with "towing chat."

Keep the pics coming!!

This one is towards the summit on the "Super Secret Road" where we set up camp with one of the most amazing backdrops ever.

Pretty soon it will be down to a pond.

It was sad to drive along the banks and see where the water used to be and to see all of the now useless campsites.
Don't worry, once the glaciers melt, it should fill right up nicely, right? :grinpimp:

How long ago did all of this start? Our camp neighbors were locals and were pretty young but seem to remember the lake in its former glory. Seems like a hell of a lot of water to lose within a few decades.

I'm 36 and lived in Austin my whole life and I noticed it 15 years ago starting to go down. Before that there would actually be flooding. With all the people moving into town it will only keep going down. All the lake front houses with boat docks sitting on dirt yet they have nice green lawns that they water everyday. Most suburbanites are the same way with their lawns. I would rather have a dirt lawn and be able to cool down in the lake but I guess I'm a minority on water conservation. I own property on the Pedernales near Fredericksburg and have started taking more photos in the last couple years from the same spot just to watch how it's changing.

As amazing as those pics are, it's true that one really has to experience the Canyon first-hand to genuinely grasp the magnitude...good stuff!

Keep it up guys, my wallet is smoking because of this thread!!

Landcruiserphil,
Do you actually sleep up top there? It doesnt seem like there would be enough room to stretch out or is it open inside and that just provides extra head room for the interior. Just trying to figure out the purpose of those triangle popups I am seeing more of. Seems like they also take up a huge amount of good space on the roof although so do the roof top tents.

Do you actually sleep up top there? Last year I spent ~50 nights in my CampTeq and have never had a better night of sleep.

At 6'1" I have no problem stretching in the 84" of space. Sitting up is no problem getting dressed and undressed the only disadvantage I have found over my past RTT is I dont have enough room to kneel and pee out the door Im forced to unzip the back and stand up. This can be very dangerous after a night around the camp fire so I try to avoid it if at all possible. We can stand on my roof with no problem and packing stuff on top is not uncommon with the designer. I use a part of my roof space for solar.

Last several pictures I forgot to post after I finished the trip.
This one is up at Alta Lakes near 4th of July. A little busier than I would have preferred, but it was still really cool.

This was also near Alta Lakes, but at a lower elevation.

And this was the final night in the Telluride area. It was just below the previous nights campsite.

Then we drove out to the Black Mesa in Oklahoma, which apparently has one of the darkest night skies in the US, but when we were there the moon was nearly full. It kind of looks like Africa or Australia.
