First time poster, long time lurker. I've got a 2017 grey on black (dipped), icon stage 5, Gobi stealth rack, and white knuckle sliders. Waiting on ARB rear springs, new shoes, and an airlift kit to finish off the build. Pics to come!

I'm researching the wheels now and could not be more confused. I get all of the terms - backspace, diameter, width, and offset, but I cannot figure out what wheels are compatible. Example - the offest is +30 on OEM. I can't find a wheel that's +30 and 17" that I like (out of the two or so I've found).

I've searched the site and found and immense amount of knowledge in the tires forum but I remain completely stupid on this front. Any advice/knowledge/heckling to drop on me? All is welcome!

Welcome to MUD! your stock wheels are +30 offset? All stock LC 200 wheels that I've seen are 60mm offset.

What size tires are ya lookin to run?

I'm partial to these for 17", yes they fit LC200. Many tire size choices but popular ones are 285/70/17, 285/75/17, 295/70/17, 34x10.5/17, 35x12.5/17

correct - my mistake. 60mm
No biggie just wanted to make sure we're on the same page. We got guys running 60mm to 0mm offset and everything in-between...

Welcome Bajamatic! I see you changed your profile pic. Is that you in the tube?

I can't say that's me - I can say I was out there just before though!

I love surfing. My 13yr old daughter and I took it up 7 yrs ago. We were in Sayulita not to long ago in nasty wind but killer breaks. She’s a born natural. Got up on her first little 3ft using a 7’2” in Maui at 6yrs old and was hooked. Now she balks at anything under 6ft. No fear at that age

OP - what size rim are you thining ? for a 9inch width 35mm ET is about optimal for your rig..... with that you should be a ble to run a 33-34 easily with jsut removal of the mudflaps and the one inner tab on the fender liner.

...I cannot figure out what wheels are compatible

The factory wheels are a 5x150 bolt pattern with 110mm center bore. You'll need at least a 17" diameter wheel - anything smaller will contact the brakes.

Unless you have very specific wheels you want to run and are willing to use adapter rings (i.e. to adapt a 6 bolt wheel to your 5 lug cruiser), the primary considerations will be the bolt pattern and center bore. Note that you can use a larger center bore (i.e. the Icon Six Speed wheels I run have a 116.5mm center bore), but you cannot use anything smaller than 110mm. If you buy wheels with a larger center bore, you will need 60 degree tapered acorn-style lug nuts to ensure they center correctly. If you have trouble centering them you'll feel vibration as if the wheels aren't balanced properly - in that case you might need a (probably custom) hubcentric ring.

Rim width is typically in the 8 to 9" range. Tires are designed for a specific width and usually have a range they'll accept depending on their own width and height (8-9.5" rim width, +/- 0.5" typically). Rim width doesn't have an appreciable impact on clearance but will change the look of the tire slightly as it can make it more or less square on the rim.

As far as offset/backspacing goes, stock wheels are +60mm offset. Lower offset will make the tires poke out, at a risk of rubbing the fender, possibly faster wheel bearing wear, and potential changes in handling characteristics. Various offsets down to +0mm seem to be possible depending on tire size and the amount of trimming/modification you're willing to do to the inner liner, mud flaps, KDSS arm, etc.

Given the scrub radius, +50 offset is optimal for the suspension setup when running 33s. 34s should be about +45. IIRC 35s are about +40. I have the info posted in another thread somewhere around here.

That said I run +25 offset on 34s and other than some rubbing at full left lock I notice no difference in any handling characteristics, turning radius, bump steer, etc (and I'm uber-sensitive to them)

thats phenominal. you're lucky! I grew up surfing and I had both my kids in the water before they could walk. Now at 10 and 13 they are over it! Dumb kids. If only they knew!

I am basing this on the OEM rim so I was looking for a 17x8.5. My problem is that all of the idiot-proof websites go off OEM sizing, which is only 18" and up. So I'm finding it super hard to find rims that I know will fit. I've got a few pinned that I think will work - SOTA, American Racing, and Method are 3rd party Co's that appear to make a 17x8.5 with 5x150 and a fairly large offset (18 to 25). But I have yet to find anything over +25.

I love the looks and light weight, and I was going to buy those until I found out how horribly limited the supply is. “We are taking orders for a September shipment” I was told in July..... I decided to go with reman 18 inch factory 2013 LC 200 wheels due to VERY low cost and the ability to find a replacement for a damaged one on very short notice. I bought four beautifully refinished wheels for $700 shipped, with _lifetime_ cosmetic and structural warranty.

I decided not to go with 17 inch Rock Warriors due to high cost, and corrosion issues betweent the trim ring and wheel. Plus the rings are gravel/ mud catchers.... who the heck wants to deal with that? Unless you stay on pavement.... I think seperate rings are pure stupid for most applications.
