I went wheeling yesterday with the folks from AMC and it was a blast. The group consisted of mostly built 40s, one Mini and One 60. We went to Rausch Creek ORV and I was impressed with the amount of rocks and obstacles. Couple of rock fields lasted a very long time, as in 1,000' long  They were relentless.

some pics and videos uploaded to linky

No trail carnage to report. There was this F150 Ranger (old, lwb truck) that broke the steering and he had to be winched backward off the trail. He was open diff up front and not sure on the rear.

The campground inside the ORV is crap, for lack of a better word. I'll upload some more videos tomorrow and you will see what I mean. After wheeling in the black dust, the least they can provide is a shower but nope.

The group was a fun group who knows how to wheel. One of the green 40 had a SBC 400 under the hood and it sounded NICE! The other 40's were running 2Fs with Orions and one had a Orion + Toy box. The 62 was on a 4" lift with 37" x 14.50 Pitbull rockers.

The father and son team of the white Mini was cool. The little guy was spotting his dad all over the place and impressed the heck out of us with his spotting abilities.

The Brown Bronco broke the front driver Dana UJ yoke early on but it was a mean crawler. Even after the axle broke, there was enough engagement of the busted UJ that he just kept going w/o realizing it.

It was most enjoyable!

Hey Ali -

Glad to see that you've had some time for fun out there, and that your life's not all work back east.

Thanks for the pics. That's some different terrain than we have in NM. Between the rocks and the trees, the whole trail looks like one huge obstacle.

Where's Rausch Creek ORV - is it in PA? Looks like a blast. I especially liked the 60 - that looks like a tough truck. And the mini with the mini spotter. That's good training for the little guy, for when he's old enough to drive!

We hope to see you in Utah in early May - it's coming soon!

Evan

Do you have the 80 with you, or did you bum a ride?

Did you happen to see a red FJ40 with a hula girl on the dash?

bummed a ride. My 80 is in Rory's driveway! He's trying to figure out a funky idle issue after the HG project.

great pics Ash.

I like the barefoot Ford driver. I thought I was under-prepared....

Barefoot driver was a jeep guy and he said that his boots are just too hot! Nice guy too.

i gotta show you some pics of my 40 when i lived in Az. it looked exactly like the blue one in those pics!
