I was trying make the trip this weekend but had to get towed home last Sunday because of a bad fuel pump. The tanks is dropped and now waiting on parts. Have a great trip!

Last time I was there it was literally maybe 10*F while waiting in line for registration and realizing that I didn't have a damn thing with me but a hangover from the night before. Got to the lot and it was like every Jeep in PA was there too. Trailered of course.

A good friend of mine is turning 40 tomorrow and we will burn it down a bit in her honor. I should be better prepared, but equally hung over Saturday.

Cruisin' Offroad trans and tx case armor installed today. Greased the axle (2 pumps only in both zerks) and u-joints today as well. 1st time I've ever done that, so hoping no drama. Still chasing an oil (looks like oil) leak from behind the alternator??? Possibly a power steering leak??? Topped both fluids off and will bring the AAA card to Rausch. I WANNA WHEEL!!

If anyone else is headed up from York area, PM me and I can buy us breakfast at my restaurant before we head up.

Shuck ... add me to the list!!!

@pistolbob found the water hole at the bottom of the park near the hill climbs. He hit it hard and it looked like a good time. A short while later we stopped at the bottom of jotters where he popped the hood. We saw coolant running like a river onto the ground and a fan shaking badly. It was missing a blade and our guess was the water made it flex and contact somthing breaking it off and sending it into the radiator.

@Cass007 then offered to pull him out so we hooked him up and headed up the twisty section by the old office. Maybe it was bad line selection or not being able to keep up without power steering, but Chris lost momentum on a corner and was unable to start again.

We backed @VBRoamer down for a second truck to help pull. With @shmukster cordination we tried again. Chris and Vince did their jobs exactly as instructed. However Bob was unable to get the steering turned quickly enough. I think he was bound on a rock. And in a off camber situation. Over he went.

Thankfully no one was hurt and we used my winch and a snatched block to right him. We then started the truck and winched and drove it around the corner where we then had to stop and change the tire that blew a bead and wheel that was bent.

Total carnage,
Radiator
Electrick fan
Wheel
Maybe a tire
Fender
Door
Mirror
Roof

Maybe we will be provided with more info.

How do I upload pics directly to mud?

We could skip wheeling and go see showdown. I'm good either way.

I went up to the Showdown yesterday. Caught up with some friends from the West Coast, wheeled out the one fireroad to spectate the one rockclimb, and stuck around for the awards.

I hadn't realized that they were running things in classes. I knew they were doing UTVs in the morning, but then ran basically the EMC class starting early afternoon and then the Ultra4s at 3:30pm. So there were maybe two dozen cars in each class and things were fairly anticlimactic. They had video set up around the course, but no screens at the event. So I think you got a better sense of what was going on just watching online.

It's good to see them back on the East Coast, though. I had helped out at the RCQ races and had a good time at those. Back then everyone just ran together and there was a lot more action with more racers on course.

Yeah to say it was a good day would be quite accurate for the most part. To say it was an exciting finish is quite the understatement. We had six trucks- my 40, Chris and Marie Hauser in their very capable 4Runner (from Rochester NY), Vince and Chris (Cass) in their 80 series, Andy in hid 4Runner and Rob in the bobbed pickup. Weather was perfect and in spite of a long line to register because of the jeep event we got out of the part right at 9AM.
Did the shortcut to C then on to CV trail. With this being Cass' only second time wheeling we didn't want to scare hi too bad. Didn't work he was a bit nervous after CV trail. From there we did C out to the main road then down over the hill to the west side of the park. Did trail 12 then over 11 to 10 did that in its' entirety. From there we went around the horn on 11 again and did 19B down to the bottom of the park, then up 11 to H then back to the entrance of 10 where we stopped for a quick lunch break. After eating we did 15 uppast Crawl Daddy, then hit the power line trail back up to the top. From there we did the somewhat tough shortcut up to E then did 101 trail. After that we headed over to the pole line and it was rife with jeeps. Took what I thought was a bypass on P but ran into a group of four jeeps one of whom couldn't back- so we had to back out onto the pole line to let them pass. Had to wait again on the pole line near the three way climb to let a large group of jeeps pass.
Took the pole line to the end, then over C, down past the top of the hill climbs (where I flopped my piggy years ago), around to the bottom. Stopped at the bottom of Jotters Way to see if anyone wanted to try but had no takers. By this time it was 1:30 or so and everyone had had their fill.
I took off in my 40 with Chris and Marie behind, got about 100 yards up toward the old office location and noticed the others hadn't followed. Looking back it appeared someone had their hood open so we turned turned around and went back to find Rob's radiator leaking profusely. Decided rather than drive it the remaining distance to the staging area and risking overheating the truck we hooked the strap to Chris' 80 and he hauled Rob.
Made it up to the old office location, around the turn at the bottom then headed up the hill. It's off camber in the turn section and a slippery sandy surface. Chris lost traction and we couldn't get him started again so hooked a strap from the rear of Vince's Lexus to the front of Chris 80 and started to pull again. Seemed to be going OK till I hard and "oh no" and a crash.
I didn't see what happened and didn't quite understand how it happened until I saw the pictures posted above. Rob had a hard time steering his truck without the engine running(an therefore no power assist) and since I had the tow strap hooked to the passenger side of Rob's front bumper, it just looks like the combination of the pull of the strap and the pretty badly off camber setup made the truck go over. Damn.
Thankfully nobody was hurt. As Andy noted in his post we got the truck back over onto its' wheels again. Decided to let Rob try to start it up drive it while winching from his truck to a handy tree. It worked even though the tire was REALLY off the bead and the wheel had a bad bend in it. Got it up to a spot where it could be safely jacked and got the spare onto it. Rob then drive the 150 or 200 yards up to the staging area. Thankfully the group was well equipped with recovery gear, lotsa straps and shackles, a tree saver and snatch block courtesy of Andy, and two trucks with working winches!
Wow, excitement to say the least. Always unfortunate when a truck gets on its side or worse. Best thing is nobody was injured and Rob took it very calmly. Did I say his wife Kelly was in the truck with him at the time???? She did quite well with it all, too.
Some thoughts on the day... Chris did remarkably well with his 80, as nervous as he was in the beginning he ended up not needing a spot anywhere after the first hour or two. He followed Vince's Lexus and took the same lines as Vince and did vey very well. Chris and Marie were gonna be loading their 4Runner onto their trailer and heading back into the Siberian weather of the Rochester area. It was 82 degrees at the park yesterday and a very comfortable day to wheel. Lotsa water in the park, pretty much everywhere. The staging area was full of jeeps. Long lines into the trailer, where there were three windows open. Andy and I picked the wrong line, ahead of us was a guy who didn't have any of his waivers filled out and he had to do one for his wife and both their kids. He didn't leave the registration window but stayed right there to do it. Then the next person paid with a credit card with which there was an issue. Oh well, sometimes you can't win. In any event it seemed like everyone had a good time and except for the carnage to Rob's truck all went well. Hope we see him and Kelly back on the trails again soon!

Even though I started off the day calling 911 because the people next to us child slid off their trailer and cut his leg very badly, later found out he needed 9 staples, and the day ended with breakage, I would agree It was a great day wheeling. Lessons were learned, everyone went home safe and unscathed. Maybe I did some damage to the ifs and should finaly do the sas I've been wanting to do lol. Thank you all for the helping hands

I had a great time and thank everyone for all their help throughout the day. Gary made sure I was good on the more difficult trails and being able to follow Vince is like a security blanket, I just try to put my wheels where he put his. Lots of firsts for me yesterday and it still blows my mind what the truck is capable of doing. Every once in a while I would glance in the rear view and see Andy in the way back texting, sipping a latte and possibly finishing his taxes while he waited for the hard trails to start.

I went back out today with Blair and some of his friends that all had very capable vehicles. The weather change was drastic to say the least. Cold, wet, foggy and very windy. I followed Blair in his FJ and soon realized how different it is on the trails in the wet. A few times I picked a line and then the truck picked a different one. Mild carnage today for Blair and Seth and myself that I didn't notice until later when I tried to open the pass side front door and found it clips the fender. Pretty sure I hit the same stump Blair did going over a rise in a really tight spot.

I came away with an O2 sensor code on my way home Saturday, then it shut off when I went into low range today and hasn't come back. Lots of water today and I smacked the skids, armor, frame and front bumper hard several times, so maybe it knocked loose whatever was broken or clogged. I can't wait to get the rear bumper from Brian hopefully this week and then get to work on the lift and some larger tires. I know my 80 will always be chubby, but having it always feel short too is getting old.

Looks like I missed a fun day! You mofos were in short sleeve shirts while I was in Montana loading a tractor trailer in the snow!
