My oem bottle jack is too short now that I’m lifted. My floor jack is too heavy to lug around and barely lifts the tire off the ground on my cement driveway.

So, this SafeJack.com “The General” offroad setup looks nice, but spendy and will it work on sandy rutted roads to fix a flat? 'The General' Off Road Kit

What’s you offroad jack setup? Details please.

Wow! Nice, but that’s an $812 jack.

Hey Homers,

I found that a Hi-lift jack works well. I use it with a base plate which comes in handy in soft sand. Mounted on my roofrack.

Ditched my hi-lift a while back but kept the heavy-duty base plate which works perfect with the OEM bottle jack and a neck extender.

<edit> Haven't actually had to USE this combination "in the field" yet but worked great in my garage.

Where are you placing the factory jack?

Our jack adapter and a factory jack (80, 100, 120 series) can change a 37" tire no problem.

This is a wife inspired product making it wife approved:)

I used a pro eagle for a while offroad until I got the ARB Jack.

@LandCruiserPhil that’s an awesome practical solution. I love not wasting parts/tools. I just figured out I’ve been placing the bottle jack on the pinch points under the rocker panel area.

My friend pointed out that I need to place the bottle jack under the control arm or axle.

So, your product makes a lot of sense. Have others used it on a GX470 with succes?

Oh the web site doesn’t say which one is for the gx470 or 120 platform.

When servicing or changing a tire you want to lift the minimum so your friend is correct lift at the axle. Our adapter keep you much safer by securing the jack eliminating sliding off. The adapter is slightly oversized to let it pivot while keeping the jack 100% vertical.

@LandCruiserPhil Very cool. I just ordered. Didn't enter any of my information like name and address, but I paid via PayPal and I'm assuming you get all my information from them.

@joabmc that's a good video on jacks and understanding their best use and limitations. I personally don't like the hi-lift. I'm gonna stay with the oem bottle jack for now. The jack adapter should make it safer for now.

I'm still interested in other clever and creative jack solutions that people use when offroad.

Assuming you are from Downey, CA we just processed an 1.5" order and it will ship today.

The best jack solution off road is to pay attention so you dont need any jack;)..............ever:D

Yeah, Downey. I got the email. That was fast processing!

That's why I got the new E-load 10-ply Nitto Ridge Grapplers...less worries than uneven balding front tires...but gotta be prepared to be able to change a tire on at least a semi-flat and semi-stable surface.

Yeah, that's what my friend was telling me as well. He told me he's gotten a handful of flat tires offroad and the first time he couldn't get an oversized bottle jack under the axle. Using the same bottle jack to lift from the body didn't help as the tire never lifted much. Someone with a hi-lift helped him and he was able to change the flat tire.

So, it's super important to be able to fit the bottle jack and stabilizing jack adapter under the axle with a flat tire. This is why I'm seeking additional clever ideas on how to supplement the OEM bottle jack, your jack adaptor, and what else can help?

Jack extensions? Wide base for bottle jack? Jack stand to lift in parts? A second bottle jack? 4x4 wood studs (I carry them to setup my sleeping area in the back of the GX470)?

Also note that a SafeJack will not fit under your axle if your tire is flat

@LandCruiserPhil the cradle is a great solution, I bought one last year and use it in the garage all of the time. The only other thing needed is a base to use the factory bottle jack offroad, either make your own or buy the HiLift base.

IMHO the best part of a HiLift is the handle - so many uses! The jack itself drives me nuts and I try to never use it. Paying $800+ or any number of hundreds for a jack is insane, unless you're racing or have rolls of toilet paper made of $50's. The factory bottle jack has never let me down, and with the cradle is incredibly useful.
