I wanted to treat myself this Christmas with a low budget mod like some clear lenses for my '91 80.

I did run a search but most of the relevant posts were from a few years ago.
I checked on ebay and it appears that there's only one seller of the aftermarket lenses, named neonedials.

Here is a pic of his/her product:

Not sure if these are the crystal clear ones or the slightly clouded units.

Anyone have these? Or any info on what's currently available oem?

thanks.

Those look like the Depo lights.

I have the Depo lights in my 80 and bought them from Mot.

You can get the Clear corner (JDM OEM) corners or the ones with the little bit of yellow like you see on the LXs too. These are the JDM clear corners:

I am running LEDs for all lights except the reverse lights (soon to be swapped) -> https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/213060-definitive-led-thread-80s.html

There might be two variations of aftermarket crystal-clear corners.

Also there are those that are in one piece with the headlights as well.

The JDM/OEM ones turn on when you turn the marker lights on and the become brighter when you turn the blinker on (corresponding side). That feature is helpful (YMMV).

I "think" in the US some(all?) states require to have at least some amber/orange on/by/around the front corner markers, hense the LC got the all amber and the LX got the part amber.

Some folks here with (crystal) clear lenses have done mods to have them function as turn signals as well. You can do a search and get at least a couple of different hits.

Good luck!!

I have the clear front running lights (narrow horizontal ones under headlights) from neodials. They are crystal clear and the box said depo on it.
quick delivery, good product.

Ebay Au
has heaps as the clear ones are std on our 80 series

Last I heard Dan could still order the OEM ones. I don't think they're much more than the aftermarket parts, with no worries about potential aftermarket quality issues.

Thanks for the updates guys!

treeroot...those pics are great. would love to get a pair of those side markers, very nice.

FirstToy...sounds like a deal then.

Clint...I think the shipping would kill the deal.

Mot...that blinker function would be great. Would an amber bulb count?:D

OWP...I'll check with Cdan about them before ordering the ebay lenses.

I can get the side markers still, clear or crystal.

As for the blinker function, there are a couple of threads on them if you want to search. I think it's a cool/good mod that increases your visibility (by others).

IIRC, Cdan could get the -'94 trim clear corner markers, but they would fit the other years just fine as well. It's just the chrome piece matching or not... But that was from a few years back, so you should check to see if he can get them!

I'm NOT pushing anything I have or I could get.
There are almost all of the lenses that I have dealt with that are now obtainable on e-bay and much cheaper that way, too! I would do that w/o any reservation!

I do have a couple of pairs of the JDM clear front corners (used) if someone wants to take them, but again, with shipping it is not that much cheaper than getting a brand-spankin' new pair from Cdan. So unless you're a hardcore penny pincher, I'd probably contact Cdan. ;)

I've seen two LED rears that look almost identical, but were made by two different companies. Their qualities were pretty similar though.

I usually recommend people caulk the lenses if they're aftermarket, just to increase your chance of not getting any moisture in them. But the manufacture quality has gotten better compared to a few years ago, I believe!

any pictures of those red/clear tails light up?
Ask and ye shall receive!

VOILA!!! :hillbilly:

You can just scroll down and see far more pics than you had bargained for! :D

I am not a fan of the clear lenses (looks too much like a riced out Civic or something) but I do really like that grill insert. Where did you get that?

you say (looks too much like a riced out Civic or something) then you want to know where he got the grille insert!

I kid, I kid,

I think Root fabbed that up himself. Do a search, I think he posted something about it on here.

I think it looks killer! That grille insert and the lenses, with that Slee bumper is sweet! I have to quit looking at all this LC stuff before I go broke! :D

Like I said, not a fan of the clear lights on any car or truck personally (to each his own) but the grill has no "rice" look to it at all. Just something a bit different. If that was a self fab job, what did you use for it?

Aggregate screen for mining.

Ha, funny thing here is when I first got my hdj81 I took the headlights out with the clear corners and toosed them! I had to install lights from a domestic market 80 that had the "d o t" stamp to satisfy my inspector. Had I knowen back then people wanted them I would have given them away.

yikes, every lense and glass on my truck (except for the headlights;)) have the dot stamp.... thats weird that yours didn't

I just got the Depo clear corners and marker lights for X-mas. They went in smoothly and quick. I have done the turn signal mod and I can say that they look great and function well. Time will tell if they last. I didn't caulk the lenses but may go back and do that later. They do have drains built in just like the OEM. I need to get the LED Tail lights now. Great addition.

Toyota parts quality vs. aftermarket

I bought the neondials led rears and front clear corners that were more transparent. The quality was not acceptable and they were not sealed tail light lenses, just individual pieces that would definately leak. The clear corners had trim issues and the trim was not attached well. Sent them back and paid the shipping penalty, ordered LX lenses. The Toyota quality is to nice to compromise! My others were 13 years old and just slightly fadded but working fine.
