To remove the a/c evaporator the dash must be removed . Mine was 99% blocked with dog hair from the P/O dog . After cleaning and re instaling, my heater /defroster worked like it never had before. while the dash was out it was a good time to remove and or tidy up all the non- OEM wiring added over the years from P/O's .

i was able to clean it some still in the rig, but do need to pull it and do it right, be a good project for this winter thanks

Just did this quick little fix. What a difference! Mine was halfway full of pine needles and leaves, and not only did it seriously help improve airflow, the fan is so much more quiet now! I think every 60 series owner should do this...it took me literally 45 seconds to take it out. The hardest part was making myself get up and do it :D

You don't need to pull the dash to remove the A/C evaporator. I had mine out for a cleaning and an expansion valve change yesterday. Disconnect the hard lines at the firewall and remove the glove box. Once you've done that you'll see two nuts on studs on the top and one or two bolts on the bottom of the entire a/c box. Just pull the box out from there. Once it's out you can unscrew a few phillips head screws and remove some clips and then you can give it a good cleaning. It would be a good time to replace your expansion valve as well. About $30 for a Densop replacement part through partsgeek.com

I had a sweet semi-developed old hornet nest!
