Man, things have been absolutely nuts here lately. So much work going on, and so much more to do! I almost need a full time employee just for taking pictures and documentation!
Lets see what I've been up to..
Spent the beginning of January completely re-wiring Bill's 40. Completely new fuel system as well. Much safer now. Replaced all dry rotted rubber hose with new stainless and nylon braided 6AN hose, all tied up nice and safe. Fuel pump moved to inside the tank. Completely re wired all accessories, added a bunch of lights like tailights, maps lights and more rock lights,, fixed the headlights and high beams and even got them running off the original Toyota switch again. A lot of work! Ready for some nights rides now though!

I've also been hard at work on a L33 (aluminum block 5.3/4l60 swap into member @Radwelder FJ62. Planning to get this out the door by the end of the month. That is a two month turnaround, with pretty much all parts ordered ahead of time. I would like to be able to consistently offer fast turnaround LS swaps as I see that as the current best thing you can do your 60 or 80 to make it keep up with modern traffic, add reliability, and make maintenance simpler and more cost effective

it really feels like I do a lot of electrical work. I have really grown to enjoy it over the last few years.

cleaning up original Toyota body harness and 3FE connections.. adding in GM AC connections, tricking the FJ62 body wiring to run the fuel pump without the ECU, etc.

pictured next is trimmed down and simplified transmission/transfer case harness connection, the 4pin DTM goes to the a sub harness I built that goes to the 4l60 for reverse lights and Park/Neutral safety switch functionally. I'm working on tracking down the original Toyota transmission side connectors for a 62 and will eventually offer a plug-and-play harness for 4l60/4l80e into a FJ62. Eventually 80 series as well.

Had to put the C10 project on the back burner a little bit but am also back on that and almost finished up. Hopefully running this weekend.

Turbo kit finished, 100% 304 stainless steel mandrel bent TIG welded exhaust built by yours truly, fuel tank heavily modified for in-tank setup, dual pumps (twin 450lph), new 78-90 steering box for tighter steering ratio installed, hydroboost conversion is finished as of now, modified a 73-78 battery tray to fit on the drivers whittling down the list

thanks Steve! I have been slowly building up my arsenal of wiring tools and supplies. The tape is Tesa 51036 which is the high-heat resistant engine harness tape found on BMW, Porsche, Mercedes etc. Not only is it really nice it is very inexpensive.

Just finished up this 5.3/4l60 conversion into a FJ62. The engine is a 90k mile L33 (H.O aluminum block). This conversion had about a 8 week turnaround time.

I have also been working on a full FJ40 build-up for @papabeach . It's getting the works. front disc conversion, FJ60 rear axle, FJ60 power steering, new OME springs, Bilstein shocks, the *entire* 4-Plus catalogue, ARB lockers F/R, 4.11's, brand new 8274, a whole host of goodies from Matt@Vintage TEQ parts, new Toyota steelies and hub caps with new KM3's etc

Don't worry, the motors coming out to get rid of the red. :)

Thank you John. That was a customers. I did the conversion into my truck with the same engine but with a 5-speed manual transmission (NV4500) in 2018

So I have been at the current shop for a year now. Lets see what I've done here (just off the top of my head)...

a lot of knuckle rebuilds and brakes, lost count after 15
5 transfer case rebuilds
3 clutches
3 complete baselines (cooling system, valve adjustment, overall checkup, leaks etc)
2 LS swaps
1 turbo kit (turbo LS C10)
2 suspension installs
3 completely custom fuel systems
2 complete re-wires
and that's just off the top of my head.... there was a lot of smaller jobs as well.

on deck next.. way too much to list and I don't like posting about planned projects in case plans change. But there are a ton of cool projects planned and i will post them up as they happen so stay tuned. CruiserMatt's Off-Road and Performance is going to get wild in 2021
