A friend is selling me his navy blue FJ80 but doesn't know what year it is. We haven't settled on a price and I'm not sure the mileage or anything. All I know it was well taken care of. But from what I heard the navy blue ones are rare and was wondering if anyone knew what years they were produced. I'm hoping they the later years with the 4.5.

Thanks for your help..

awesome, thanks.. can't wait to get started on the build.. just when I have my 40 where I want it, another money pit...

Just curious..... how does one go about owning a 80, say they take "great care of it", and don't even know what year it is?... your money, not mine..... I

You could also type the VIN in to a number of online decoders for year and more information!

Look to see how road salts have affected that under side of that cruiser.
Get it and run it to the next Cruise Moab!
Good Luck.

Ok slow down everyone.. it was his mother in laws.. it's in Oregon, garage kept and dealer serviced.. all I know is that it's navy blue and well taken care of.. I have to fly out there to drive it back to Colorado.. then I'll put up vin codes or whatever anyone wants to see.. I guess I'll
Update the build too. Lots of options out there too.. and @redmudfj I'm going to be in the cool guys club now

Oregon is terrible, you should stay in Colorado and tell them to sell it to me...I will take that pile off their hands lol.

Yeah, it's toast if its in Oregon. I'm closer and I have a trailer to go get what will undoubtedly be a pile of near useless iron with spatters of blue paint here and there. I'm willing to help her out - just say the word!!! I have one in this color and its pretty nice. My third fav after Emerald Pearl and the flashy red.

Love the blue cruisers, sure seem rare. Nice score, hope it all pans out. I've got my 80, but am working on the 40 purchase, do I get ya on the "another money pit" part.

@IdahoDoug better watch what you say about Oregon lol. No way you're closer than me unless that thing is on the border. A true land race in the making lol. Although I would only have to drive my Camry there with the girlfriend and have her drive the Camry back. Probably be faster for me lol. Anyway, @74bruiser thats a sweet find, I don't recall ever seeing any in that blue color or in red. Rare find.

The best years.

Welcome to the official best color team.

I never realized it, but after seeing bludozer's post above..... I haven't seen many blue 80's! With blue being so popular, does anyone know why Mr T only offered it for what?..... 3 years?!

Yeah I'm chopping at the bit to get it.. hopefully it's triple locked and supercharged.. I'll post pics as soon as I get it.. my buddy says it's loaded, the only option that I've heard of is tripled locked.. but hopefully it has a sun roof.. what other options did these things have?

I beleive, and I may be wrong, that if it's triple locked.... it's better for it to NOT have the sunroof. I believe they are/were called the poverty package.... triple licked, but NO OPTIONS.... pretty rare, therefore worth more $$$$$. But, like I said... that might only be certain years. I only know enough to hurt myself!

Then I bet it's not triple locked..

I am a fan of these, and e-lockers or doing some ARB / whatever lockers - the "white whale" is if it has a grey interior. Tan I've seen plenty, but I only have seen 1 grey one & I've been paying attention since about 2001 when I got mine.

Grey interior parts are generally available, where tan seems like interior parts command more money used & are all NLA where a few grey parts are still around.

Kudos to getting it, I'd trade my locked 40th in sig & add $$ for a blue/grey, lockered or not. Just tossing that out there.

We'all see what happens.. but I have plans to build it and use it a lot..

fwiw I wanted a Blue one when i was shopping for mine, but there was not one for sale anywhere in the country when I was looking that I could find. If I ever get another one its going to be a blue one
