What about the Million Mile 2UZ Scares you? It's Literally the Best V8 Ever.

Believe it or not, the 2UZ is a *lot* harder to swap than an LS. The physical size alone is a big part of that; the 2UZ is very wide, while an LS can fit where a 4-cylinder sits with little-to-no modification - like a Miata.

I witnessed this in-person on this build. I helped out once or twice. That dude was an engineer though and had a fully-built 2JZ-powered Lexus GS race car right next to the 80 in his garage. Showed me a bent rod out of that 2JZ that still managed to help make 1000HP... Safe to say that his 2UZ swap was an exception.

That, and there are exponentially more perfectly fine LS-based engines out there in junkyards and shop shelves than 2UZs, just waiting to drop into another vehicle. The aftermarket support alone is a HUGE reason to do an LS swap.

Oh it's a great engine, and I could go that route but without researching it a lot i'd guess its more expensive of a swap? or maybe its easier idk

yea so mainly LS for cost, availability of parts, and simplicity. Also it's been done so many times, lots of people have the answer to the questions that'll come up
 
Really? How do I find it? I have pulled the seats looking for a pigtail and looked in the FSM. I had others tell me I would find them.

We are about to do the interior so finding them would make it far easier to add heat!

My 94 with manual cloth seats and ABS has an extra unused electrical connector under the seat. I always figured it was for the heated/power seats that I don't have.

No hunting was required. It was sitting in full view, coming out the same carpet slice that exposes the seatbelt connector.
 
IMO, 95+ with OBDII is huge.
Not if you live in a state with emissions tests. I absolutely HATE doing that crap every year. Super annoying. And they always seem to send the damn letter in the winter when there’s a gazillion tons of salt on the road. I specifically looked for an OBDI 80 series. I knew what I was getting into with an old car that’s gonna need a lot of work and sit a lot of the year.

Thanks, I pulled the seat a week ago for other reasons and did not see it. Maybe I will rut around and see if it is under the carpet. I am just not skilled enough for a wiring job.

I think there was a lot in transition in that period and my December 94 has some 95 parts. For example, they switched the intake manifold fasteners from 4 nuts and 4 bolts to 2 nuts and 6 bolts in late 94. Parts diagrams show the changeover based on VIN, but even though they say I should have the old config I have the new config. I've found a lot of parts where my VIN, 929XX, is right on a seam, and what I find may not match what's on the diagram. VINs from 92080 to 94040 seem to be in this transition time frame. I once had a Toyota shop tell me my main wiring harness is actually the 95, but I never validated myself.

I'm pretty sure that what's above is correct, but feel free to correct or refine if anyone has corrections, more info, or details on this.

Ah, mine s a December '94 production date as well and I hav the same nut/bolt mix you cite on the upper IM. No issue, it takes 15 minutes to pull a seat and peer into the carpet, well worth my effort.
