Not sure. It would seem to be 1957, but the VIN number is too high. For example my 1958 was 8-FJ25-6895L

My guess is the last digit is really an L, 2963 would be around 1957 (1/2 of 6895) assuming the numbering was the same. Where did you find that one?

I did mail him several years back it is a 1957. I've lost all that early mail. This is the same truck from a Japanese 4WD mag article, I think there's a couple threads with it in here. A strange mix of very early original stuff and later original stuff. Not sure if I got him in the blanket mailing I did when the 25 section started up.................try him again........check out his other toys too.

i would have to say after the research i have done it is a 1959 due to the second number being 9 in comparison to Cruiser_Nerd having an 8 in the same place symbolising it being a 58 this also works out the same for me my dads is an 0 and it is built in 1960 a fews yrs back i remember reading about it

I'm thinking that this is what the vin tag must have had onit

notice the rear carrier is like that from #8 on the count

No, I can't confirm the VIN, but it would make sense that it is 2963L.
