Just want to mark my calendar for when I can import one in the US...gonna be a while. Still very curious how West Coast Cruisers has 2 of them California tagged on their website--I would buy one in a second if I could.

Not saying I don't like the old ones or even that I wouldn't get an older one in the interim, but for some reason the newer ones are pretty much the ultimate LC in my eyes.

Probably under the Show and Display exemption or a temporary 1-year importation.

The wide nose as we call it in South Africa was launched here end of 2007.
Thanks--will be a longggg wait of another 15 years here in the USA

If I lived in California I would buy a shack in Mexico and register it there :)

or... body panels.
True. There is a guy in the 80 series section who swapped a new 79-series ute cab and bed onto an 80 frame. Looked fantastic when he was done.

There are at least 2 late model Land Rover Defenders in my hometown that have Georgia license plates however if you look close you'll notice that they are "dealer tags" and the current owner acknowledges that they can not be sold or registered.

Are these the "wide nose" versions?

Yes there are a few, some call it the prado look
I'd refer to it as the "soft" look. I prefer the old "squared off" look myself. :)

Hello,

They became available in 2007.

Eligible for import to Canada in 2022.

Eligible for the US in 2032.

As mentioned above, it is possible to change the front end of an older 70 Series with the newer model panels. It is done every now and then in Australia.

Juan

Two welded washers on the firewall and two new body mounts up front are the extent of it.

I've new fenders, radiator support, and hood if anyone wants to have a go at it.

Hmmmmm, A leaf-sprung Wide Nose.......:hmm:
