On whim, modeled up the ashtray to add some outlets to the rear doors.

Initial thought is for this style (round USB/12V plugs) and Carling switches. Any other things it MUST be able to fit?

A headphone jack to work with the video system you will be installing?

Can’t put anything there but dog paws, dirt and grit.

12 volt cigarette lighter plug?

I’ve got a couple appliances that require them.

I wouldn’t put any on the surface. I’d either locate the ports inside the ashtray where they’re protected by the lid or utilize the third row ashtray that is just behind the second row seat and oriented vertically.

not really enough room inside, but that back one is an interesting idea. I just drilled a hole in the plastic on my personal rig and mounted one that way.

Think rectangular/standard mid-90’s Toyota switch blank outlet rather than round and there might be enough room under the 2nd row door ashtray lid.

I have several USB charge outlets at the back of the center console which I consider to be a better location since cables are out of the way. Easy to wire since it's all under the console and easy to run forward and through the firewall.

Plugging USB into the doors would mean cables that are hanging when getting in/our of the back seats. Also the nuisance of running additional power wires through the door and across to reach the B pillar and then routed forward. Personally two strikes in terms of usability and ease of implementation.

My 2c.

cheers,
george.

That’s this option: Is anybody still interested in a center console?
