Just taking the 60 crowds pulse. there simply are no decent carpet kits out there. When JTO shorted me on the jute padding, I went to a large supply place that specializes in car, marine and aviation interior materials. I found what I believe to be a grade of Marine carpet that is at least the same or better than stock. Im making a couple of patterns from my stock carpet kit that will be cut and sewn.
So that begs the question, most kits are around $400-450 and they're pretty much garbage. Would you pay $500 for something better? $600?

For people that have already done a carpet replacement how nice would it be to have all the cut outs already done for you?

This is a good question.

i live in southwest florida, i called a few different places.

i got ahold of one place that said they will do new sound dampening and new carpet installation for 370 dollars (us) which includes the carpeting it self.

Now, i havent seen the place first hand, so im thinking the low price is either lack of work on their hands, or the fact that i have no interior carpeting what so ever right now, which of course makes there job alittle easier.

IMO We should be able to get a GOOD carpet kit for $400.

Please explain what makes the kits available "garbage"-such as the $500 CCOT offering for example. I bought their cargo area and tailgate carpet kit and it seems OK.

from the kits Ive seen the carpet is very thin, the backing is not as strong and they still use the old fashioned jute as the padding. Get that jute wet and its over.
