With the two piece rear Prop Shaft on a Mini Pickup, the rear section has Universal Joints at both ends(unlike the front section), I want to cut the Tube out Completely and Weld in a new piece of Tube. Any problems with this idea?

not a problem at all.

You want to make a 2 piece DS into a 1 piece DS right?

.090 tubing that has the ID you need. Off hand I can't remember what exact OD tubing you want..

Not sure either, but t he drive shaft shop claims its drive shaft specific.

In fact the toyota stuff is metric tube.

But there is no reason you can not turn the DS ends down to accept a certain ID tubing..

Can I Weld to the original Welds, as I don't think there'll be enough materiel left if I cut closer to the Uni Joint on one end and the Slip yoke on the other?

Whilst the Tube is being cut to length on a Lathe, should I put a Chamfer on the ends of the Tube, for Welding?

You might even fish mouth the end of the tube to increase the weld length.

Today, I couldn't get DOM.
Firstly I went to a place in Springvale, it had moved(Yellow Pages are only a few weeks old), I found it around the corner, but it didn't look like they sold Tube, so I didn't enter.
Secondly, I went to the place in Boronia, which is advertised under two names. He said he could do a special order, but it'd have to be four or eight metres, and he didn't know of anyone who sold DOM in normal lengths.

Now, I don't know what to do.

Originally I Telephoned a mob in Bayswater, but he said it was illegal(in a rude manner ). I can't see any mention of Drive/Tail/Prop(Propellor) Shaft on http://vicroads.com.au/
I haven't Telephoned any other Mobs becouse the're too far away. :flamingo:
